I hope you won't blame me for stopping here at 12 players, that's already a lot of people. Later on once I'm sure I can handle it I might take on a few more players.

Updated OP, should all be correct now.

Any questions about the game or the base? Now is the best time to ask them. I'll answer anything you guys would be apt to know.

Are we going to start out on base, or in transit? Where will we be?

How is it supplied? Powered? What is the basement layout? Any security staff besides scrapheap? What sorta heli? What are the chances of the place getting attacked in one way or the other? Where is it? Army, Navy or Air Force, who is running it?

This is the third time I've written this because Firefox keeps crashing.

Are we going to start out on base, or in transit? Where will we be?
The game will start at 6 o'clock in the morning. The helicopter is just arriving with the science team (Senior Biologist, Assistant Biologist, Tactical Adviser, Neurologist, Computer Scientist, VR Researcher, Assistant VR Researcher) and their equipment, everyone else has already been there for more than two weeks and are familiar with the facility. At that time of day, the only characters who would definitely be awake would be the cooks and the commander but the others could be up to practically anything.

How is it supplied? Powered? What is the basement layout? Any security staff besides scrapheap?

What sorta heli? What are the chances of the place getting attacked in one way or the other? Where is it? Army, Navy or Air Force, who is running it?
A boat drops off supplies every 6 months and the heli spends a day ferrying them to the base. The base is powered by the main generator in the basement, if that fails the backup automatically kicks in. Scap is not security, she's a consultant, but in case you're wondering yes she is the only one with combat experience. The commander is the only one authorized to carry a weapon, he has his sidearm. There is a supply of firearms in case of a food emergency, the gun rack is located in the hall outside the map room.

One helicopter, a CH-53. As far as you know the Russians don't even know this project exists. Somewhere in Antarctica, only the commander, the pilots and the land guide know the exact location. You and the facility are all owned by the US Army.

Isn't having military installations in Antarctica highly illegal by international law?

Also, interesting to know we're in Antarctica rather than the Arctic. What do we need an Arctic Guide for, if that's the case? Seems like we're as far from their area of expertise as is geographically possible. As well as not having much use for a guide in the first place.

Or is this the sort-of-Antarctica-but-actually-Alaska kind of Antarctica, with something other than endless polar desert without any polar bears to look at?

Just seems way more expensive, way more illegal and way less effective than putting it somewhere in Northern Alaska. Inefficiency and unnecessary expense are also traits of the Cold War, granted, but more like the Cold War of the sixties with its chicken nukes and ESP testing than the eighties, methinks. In the eighties, it was all the rage to pretend like you had inefficient and unnecessarily expensive plans that may be just crazy enough to work, if I understand history right.

How does the canon here differ from that of the real Cold War? Could we get a guide on the social climate, and perhaps some contemporary lingo?
