The group backtracked. The dried leaves that they trampled on their escape crunched again for the second time. Elias looked about cautiously. After half an hour ride, a ride which took longer than earlier due to their slow pace, they found the crossroads which they had passed earlier in panic.
The forest is still silent. The old man coughed and pointed at an arrow sign which simply says 'VILLAGE'. Sitting up in his saddle, the pace picked up as Elias went faster. "The sooner we can get to safety, the better." the old man said.
Fortunately, there wasn't any complication as the party made their way to Greatgreen. The village was larger and less primitive than one would expect for a community that is isolated inside a forest. Tall stone walls surround it, their construction seemingly recent. It was crude, and the gargoyles placed on it was rather in bad taste. "Welcome to Greatgreen, home of the great Alchemist, Dale Riversong." Elias said with practiced grace, smiling sardonically. Nobody know whether Riversong is still alive or if he was eaten by a bear. The hermit lived a few hour walk from the village, it was said, but a hut was never found.
An armored elderly man who was sitting on the other side of the gate stirred and looked at the company outside. "We've been expecting you." he said, yawning. "I have no idea how to use this darned thing, so hold yer horses." he said, walking off, apparently to find someone.
