Dwarven traitor?
« on: December 06, 2014, 03:48:55 am »

So, my second siege happened, and instead of 11 goblins, 36 invaders showed up - mostly goblins, maybe 6 trolls and... a dwarven recruit.  Is this a dwarf that was snatched and raised by them?

(and I handled the siege fine, although there seemed to be difficulties with moving my squads for some reason.  Had a single casualty)

They were probably kidnaped when they were children.
You'll see some human recruits, in time.

Yes, this was a snatched dwarf child. They also steal the children of all races, if they can. And I'm told they bring them up well... I am told that they often take care of these children better than we Fortress Overseers do.

A word of warning: those dwarven recruits can be quite a handful in combat. They can enter martial trance when your militia gets too close waving their easily detachable limbs near them. I still have several depressed cripples from the last encounter with a single axedwarf sieger.

Yep, snatched dwarves can be raised and put into the militias of goblins... which can be a huge pain if your military isn't very skilled/well equipped yet because if the dwarf was good enough to convince goblins to follow them, they probably aren't a slouch in combat...

He was just a recruit though.  And as far as him being well taken care of, he was very skinnny and and had incredibly long hair.  Seems he was neglected to me...  He died along with the rest.

I don't know what happened to my guard dwarf that died as the report of his combat record disappeared.  This is not the first time this has happened :/

The kobold assassins got him, nobody knows they exist because they destroy all records of their existence and have a magic veil that cloaks them from the overseer
