Jun shakes his head.
"No way. I've gotta see for myself, you hear? Nothing will stop me from going shopping with you," he says, face perfectly straight.

He nods as Tomomi speaks.
"I see, I see... But, riddle me this:
Can a squid devour an entire person in one bite? I think not."

Jun then takes a sip of his drink, executing a perfect spit take as Tomomi adds the last part.

Tomomi throws her head back and laughs at Jun's spit take. In a good natured way, of course, since it was so perfectly done and exactly the kind of reaction she was trying to get. "What's the matter? I assumed that you knew that octopuses had tentacles, but I must have been wrong," she says, knowing full well what the matter is. "They are really dexterous too, both the tentacles and the octopuses. It's due to how their muscular system is set up and gives them an amazing range of motion, plus they're so strong despite how small they are. They're covered in tons of suckers that gives them amazing grip too. Some of the larger ones can easily out wrestle a human, which makes them a danger to drivers. A tentacle hug doesn't seem so sexy when you're in danger of drowning after all." Tomomi thinks a bit about teasing Jun even further as she takes another bite of her food. The comment about swallowing people was ripe with opportunities but she decides that he has had enough for now. "Okay, I'll give you that one. Though it's not much of a point seeing that other creatures are smart enough to chew their food first."

"There is truth to that, though it would seem you could at the least train your upper sections if you are worried about your own self preservation. A cause to bring meaning to yourself perhaps?"

Rin shakes his head, before pulling out her bird.

It is very, very smoothly sanded, to the point that it looks as if a machine sanded it. The features are preserved, however.

It seems he took very good care of it.
"Very well, what would you like?"

Katarina's face lights in surprise at this, not hidden at all. She had expected the bird back in several days at least, not before the afternoon. Her expression doesn't change, too shocked by the speed of the action.

"Oh, you know exactly what's the matter. That was good, though. Excellent timing, I must say."

Jun listens intently again, but then he looks confused.

"Wait, wait, did you say drivers? Yeah, I think an octopus would be pretty dangerous to a driver. I, for one, would most certainly freak out and crash the car if an octopus suddenly landed on the hood.
But... Smart enough? Sharks aren't unintelligent, they're extremely focused. Hard to get lost when your only emotions are 'murderous' and 'satisfied'."

"Thank you very much," she replies with a great big smile on her face. Or at least until Jun comments about the drivers. "Oops! I meant divers, sorry. It's an honest mistake."

"You just proved that sharks are unintelligent. Well, they're smart enough for what they need to do but that doesn't mean much. An octopus can memorize faces, learn to do tasks, even make simple tools. They are much, much smarter than a shark is what I'm saying."

[SOLDIER First]

Jun shrugs.

"I got a good joke out of it, so it's fine.
Okay, there's no way you didn't make that up. Memorization I can understand, doing tasks I've heard of myself, but tools? Nope. Not possible."
