Akemi pouts and crosses her arms, as Madoka chuckles and turns to the front.
A middle-aged man in a blue suit approaches the front podium, preparing to speak. He clears his throat.
"Attention, please."

Welcome to Yamaku High, new students. You have been accepted to this institution because we believe that it is our duty to cater to those less fortunate, and to do so we are specially equipped. I hope you are well-seated and comfortable.
I am Mr. Sakuraba, the headteacher. A pleasure to meet you all, a good day to you all.
Now, to explain how this is going to work, since I'm assuming you're all rushing to get back to talking to your friends....
Today, you will be assigned dorms. There will be no less than two, no more than four to a dorm, and there will be no mixed-gender dorms. Some of you who already have dorms may have people assigned to you- we apologise, but that is the only way we can fit people into the school.
Tomorrow, you will be told which class you're in and have a chance to select your electives. The mandatory subjects are as always Japanese, Maths and Science, and you will have a chance to take two electives. Club recruitment will happen later this week.
If anyone needs any special equipment or medicines, they may report to Miss Sanada or Nurse Hirasawa after this orientation.
Are there any questions?"
