It's still more equitable to trade, though. Would be good to get some form of tool that I might be able to use. Never know when you'll need tools!
You take a chunk of the mackerel for the clams. Yum, properly aged. You then decide to go shopping.. you fly back home, put on your money pouch, and fly back to the market, looking for tools..
Tools for what, exactly?
"My curiosity devours me."
Observe the "sneak peek"
She asks you to follow her into the scriptorium. Inside, the two of you settle down on a perch. Carina then says, "Well, Skylark, I'm sure you know what usually happens when someone tries to summon the gods. There's fire, and lighting, or earthquakes.. and there was that situation with Ronald and the implosion, but that is probably best not dwelt upon.
What we're going to do tomorrow is a bit different. Instead of summoning the gods to here, we're going to send the four of you to the realm of the gods. It should be a lot easier, and the results will likely be less catastropic." Carina then draws out a long scroll from the shelf. "There's even some history with doing so, where it was said that once such a connection was made, the person could then call upon some of the powers of the gods in the waking land, so to speak. It is our hope that this will show us the way, or at the very least, grant you the power to find a solution yourselves."
"Any questions?" You can see her visibly pleased at getting to explain this.
Announce some plausible-sounding news on the criers' perch. Try to not look confused.
You fly up to the criers' perch and wrack your brains. Oh Yeah, there's this ritual tomorrow! And someone's going to get 'sploded in it! You begin to announce the horrible results of a summoning you think you might remember, where Lyklos the trickster came instead, and the celebrant and the villagers all glowed bright purple for the rest of their lives. You think.
You notice that you're attracting a bit of an audience, with several other birds perched on buildings near you.
Hmm. What was that human doing here? Drak figured such a ceremony would be closed to outsiders... but he didn't know.
Observe the human. What is it doing?
It seems to be resting on the side of the building. After a few minutes, it goes into the shed. You also see another bird that you do not recognize flying around, taking a close look at the circles.
(One last thing, I'm ready to advance to the ritual day whenever you'd like.)
Drak Flyson, Toaster.

You are in the town of Tiara, the costal capital of your people. It is morning on a fair midsummer's day. The city is bustling and full of activity.
