((Meanwhile in soviet birdrussia...)) ((I was under the impression the birds were already chosen..))
"Good morning Carina, I've heard of the summoning,". Skylark gets up and walks towards Carina, "I was wondering if there was anything I could help with?"[/i]
Talk to Carina.
(Yup. You were all selected earlier.)
Carina says "Well, we've got everything pretty much ready. What we need is for you to show up at the ritual grounds first thing tomorrow morning, and, well, it's not quite a summoning as such."
She raises her head for a moment, listening to the wind.
"Would you like a bit of a sneak peek?"
Trade some of the clams for something more palatable or, alternatively, more useful from one of the other villagers. Surely there has to be someone who needs food more than stuff around here. Eat the roe, though. That sounds like something I'm not entirely sick of.
You eat the roe. Not bad, but pretty ordinary.
Food is short, and you think that if you wanted something, being a hero, you would only need ask someone for it. You take your two clams, and start catching the attention of various visitors picking up rations, trying to trade them for something better. For a few moments, you meet with little success, but eventually one of the pilgrims coming for the ritual catches your eye. He seems to be struggling with a sizeable fish in his claws.
As he lands next to you, exhausted from the flight, you recognize him as Archer, a fisher you've met from a settlement a ways up the coast. He also drops the relatively huge mackerel he was carrying, likely intended for the feast.
Ignore them back. Finish up the meal and take to the air. Anything going on near the ritual site?
You gulp the other herring down. Sated, you leap up and fly over to the smooth rocky point where the ritual will take place. Things seem mostly complete, with a tall wooden pole upright in the centre of a ring outlined in fresh chalk, with some small perches inside their own circles within. You see some boxes with holly leaves, and some more chalk nearby. Outside the circle there are a series of several larger rings, formed by logs cut down and rolled into place. You expect these will be for seats and places. The place is currently empty, save for a couple perched on the tip, facing the sea, enjoying the wind, and a human idling by the new shed that was put up to store the ritual gear.
The enemy was trying to disrupt his mission! There was only one way to respond to this whippersnapper: a verbal put-down of such immense cleverness that its recipient would burst into tears of ashamed awe! "Eh...? You dare chirp back to a bird at least four times your age? Look here whippersnapper, I am an elder of a very important village. And I... eh... what was I... oh yes... That is to say, I feel that, eh no..."
Khaal stopped for a moment. He was beginning to feel rather confused. "Eh... what was I saying?"
Ask the kindly individual in front of him what exactly is going on here.
{Wisdom check -> Success}
You stand there, looking up at the human, and screech out your statement. It looks at you, questioningly, and says a few words in the human language. It then takes its hand, and points at a tall perch in the middle of town, that you realize is for criers.

You are in the town of Tiara, the costal capital of your people. It is morning on a fair midsummer's day. The city is bustling and full of activity.
