This is all just more evidence that Trees are DF2014's King of Beasts

It would be cool if the eggs actually hatched into some kind of weird good critter.

nah, they should hatch into more trees, and then you have an impassable forest of trees and so many wood you can drive elves into an unholy rage just by designating a 10x10 square for tree cutting.

Theoretically possible. Though it would have to be vermin, not proper creatures. It would also require a custom reaction that takes the eggs and outputs the vermin.

However, I've never tried a reaction that produces a vermin, so I don't exactly know what would happen.

Heh, yeah, I quite like the idea of the eggs hatching into sentient feather bushes and waddling off to grow into trees somewhere else, though.

Yeah. Downy grass and bubble bulbs is just as weird as staring eyeball and wormy tendrils.

Also unicorns don't have [BENIGN]. Damn son.

Kind of like sea anemones. They have a polyp stage and like a free-floating jellyfish stage. In the springtime, the cherry trees bloom, and the feather ducklings start their annual mad dash for wherever there's sunlight.

I imagine feather trees as giant chicken legs with feathers sprouting out of the top.

Would it be possible to make a reaction that turns the vermin into real creatures after they've hatched?

Now we need an evil tree that lays eggs in people.

FIFY

Anyways, I'm imagining the feather trees to be something like crinioids, more specifically the stalked variety. Not sure what they'd eat though, faeries?
