Goblin Christmas: A tale of labor and gifts (19 days left) (8/20 players)

1114, Moonstone 1

Every year, on the night of Moonstone 24, Zangu Slastda, jovial old goblin and powerful chronomancer, wanders the world in a hoardslay pulled by a dozen flying beak dogs in search of children to serve as replacement workers, enticing them variously with toys, "toys," not-toys, and lumps of charcoal. They are collected and brought to his lair at the Dimple of Bald, a glacier in the far North. You are his current (alive) workers, elves stolen from early childhood.

Zangu and his relatively small crew of goblins have decided not to allow you access to dangerous tools such as picks, axes, or bows and crossbows after several past incidents they refuse to name. However, they will work hard (for a given definition of hard work) to provide you with resources for adding to Zangu's hoardslay.

This is an easy-death game. Characters can and will die (so don't get too attached to them), but players are permitted to reroll on death.

Updates will likely roll out daily around 18:00 PST (or 02:00 UTC)

1114, Moonstone 2

Five elves, Cacame Lemonpie, Urist McUrist, "Cheesy" Erith, Grifishrulbin, and David, have been dragged into a dark tower filled with workshops, furnaces, equipment, and supplies. Among the supplies available to these five are bones, shells, rusted iron wire and lumps, coal coke, troll fur, tanned skins, and dull gems of many kinds. A goblin wearing an oddly shaped rust-colored hat appears.

"Hohohohoho! Get ta work, ya smelly kids! We dun have much silk now, so one of ya'll have to go down if ya want ta be weavin'! Slowest one today's gettin' the Spider!"

At this point, you may make plans on how to use your next 24 hours. Fortunately, Elves do not actually need to sleep.

Perfect, thought Erith.  This was perfect!  He hadn't had much luck so far channelling the flaky beings within the dimension of cheese.  Nor, of course, striking the pasteurized wheels of existence with the hammer of his odorous will, as was the very metaphysical definition of the noble cheesesmithing art.  But now, things were going to be different.  He would use the newfound freedom granted by this Zangu fellow to show all Elfdom-- nay, the world!-- just what he was capable of!

Yes, Erith knew what he wanted: cheesesmithery.  And Armok-damnit, he was going to get it if he had to steal it from the heavens themselves!  "This is all well and good, but where is the cheese?

You don't understand: the holes in a wheel of Swiss lead to the ministrations of the divine pasteurizer himself!  Lead me to your silk and I will weave you your clothes, but I demand cheese as my fair and just compensation!"

Demand cheese!  Be led to the caverns of the great cheerful spiders.

"Excellent!"

Spend the next 24 hours gathering webs, weaving those webs into silk, and creating from that silk cheese-themed clothing.  If during these activities Erith finds cheese he will nab it!

((Apologies for the ridiculous number of edits.))

Erith and one of the goblins descend a seemingly endless staircase leading to a small room with a door and a rack of backpacks. The goblin hands one to Erith along with a torch and opens the door.

"Do ya see that room? That's a cave. Not fancy and full of glowy mushrooms like in pictures. Ya go in and get enough silk and we may give you cheese."

He shoves you in and slams the door shut. There are strategically placed torch holders scattered throughout this place, and two torches mark the entrance to the tower. Outside the light of your torches, it is blacker than the finest aged Necrotic Toe cheese. You see some dense webs near you.

Erith couldn't help but feel some of his goodwill towards Zangu fading as the door slammed, locking the child inside a room likely filled with eight-legged remorseless killing machines.  Cheerful ones at that, apparently.  Still though... the goblin had mentioned a chance at cheese.  The path laid before the not-so-humble cheesesmith apprentice was clear.

"Foul bugs cannot stand against the might of my cheesy conviction anyway..."

Take a torch and begin gathering webs.  Keep an eye out for giant murderouscheerful spiders.
