Luckily for David, when Kyo thinks of Madoka's salute thing as being cute, he means it literally as adorable. Kyo's taken a shine to Madoka, but he's doesn't quite have a crush on her, and he definitely isn't head-over-heels for her like David.

to be perfectly honest, Kyo wouldn't fight or argue back against David, just kinda concede and agree with him if he called Kyo terrible, or the like.

Kyo has a few more big issues than I expected when I first thought him up, and self-esteem is one of them :c

I doubt David would call him terrible. Just sorta snap and maybe accidentally become close to Kyo through talking to him about his childhood. While competing for Madoka.
