Throw out the self help book. That just caused more stress.

Then get dressed. Try to remember if our food stamps for the month are used up or not.

You throw the self help book in the trash.
The trash now consists of 2 ramen wrappers, an empty can of pink lemonade, a discarded tea packet, and the self help book.
You change into some clean clothes. A t-shirt and cargo pants.
Your inventory space now consists of the 6 different pockets along the cargo pants. Two in the normal places, two in the back, and two at knee height.
You grab your wallet and pull out the food stamp card.
There's a number on the back you could call to find out what's on it, but you don't recall seeing a phone anywhere in your apartment.
Alternatively, you could simply purchase something with it, and the remaining balance will be on the sale receipt.

Let's go to our local corner store! Also, we don't have a phone? Aww. Now we can't check our contacts for people we could ring up to find more about ourselves.

To the store we go. Hope that they sell ramen or soup mix.
Also, make sure they have a 'We accept EBT cards' signs up before we go in.

There are two places you know of to get food from that accept EBT.
There's a gas station about 2 minutes away that you know has ramen and pink lemonade, among other things, and a proper corner store about 15 minutes away that's farther through town, and close to the school.
You stick your wallet in your pocket and head out the front door.

You are now standing outside your apartment.
There are other apartment doors on either side of yours, and a small laundromat at the end.
In front of the apartment door that lies between the laundromat and your own door, stands a rather large Latino man smoking a cigarette.
You recognize him as the mariachi man from your dream, as well as being your neighbor.
You're not sure if he speaks English.

"Uhhh.
Hey! Man, how are you?"
If he doesn't respond just shrug and go to the gas station, if he does respond, see if you can strike up a conversation.

"Uhhh. Hey! Man, how are you?"
He looks over at you and doesn't say anything.
He continues smoking.
You shrug, and head out.
You walk up the hill, out of the valley that the apartments reside in.
You pass an office supply building that seems abandoned.
You cross the street.
You are now in the parking lot of the gas station.
There is a gas pump, and a vending machin on the side of the building.
There are advertisements for discount tobacco.
It smells like gasoline around here.

You walk over to the vending machine on the side of the building.
It has a variety of sodas in it. Coca Cola brand.
You don't see your pink lemonade in it.
Sodas are a dollar each. What a rip off.

You head in through the front door.
The man behind the counter is talking on the phone in Arabic.
He gives you a short wave. "Hallo!"
He goes back to talking on the phone.
There's a small heated display cabinet with some biscuit sandwitches inside on the counter.
There are various aisles of packaged food products, and rows of coolers with beverages along the back wall.
There's also a small freezer lined with ice cream novelties.
You notice a small stove with a skillet on it behind the counter. It seems those biscuit sandwitches are cooked fresh in the station.
There is also a rather wide array of tobacco products behind the counter, but you aren't old enough for those, nor would you really want them.

See if they have any ramem.
Or, barring that, see if they have any boxes of macandcheese or something.

They have some single serving ramen packs for 49 cents each.
They also have small boxes of macaroni and cheese for 69 cents each.
You also see some microwavable meals ranging from 99 cents to 1.59.
There are a bunch of other things, but they mostly consist of candy and overpriced beef jerky.
Like who seriously 5 dollars for some tiny bag of jerky that wouldn't even fill you up?
