The troops air drop down into the town and move forward to secure the closest building.
As he moves opens the door into the main room of the building, Greene spots a Zombie hanging out in a truck bed!
Greene, Kaos, and Vector combine fire to take it out.
Another lumbers around the corner
And is promptly brutalized by Agalia and Rickenbacker
The squad hears noises from outside. Rickenbacker moves up to a window to check it out
Insectoids incoming!!!
Kaos shreds the leader, but the huge beast refuses to go down
Rickenbacker falls back to let Krauss and Agalia use their grenades
With the creatures still standing, Greene pulls off a close range rocket attack to wipe them out. Kaos gets nicked by a flying piece of sharpnal, but it's minor armor damage.
More movement outside. The squad goes on overwatch.
More Insectoids! The troops unload on them
They've been damaged but aren't dead yet. We finish the job.
More movement, this time in front of the squad. We reload and prepare for another attack.
Nothing. Just more movement outside.
Rickenbacker moves up to get eyes on the situation. More insectoids, as expected. They rush towards us.
Greene blasts them with a rocket, killing all but the leader
Who is finished off by Kaos
The squad gets ready for more attackers. We can hear more movement ahead.
More inbound! Rickenbacker gets off a shot on one of them.
And the rest of the squad lays into them as they move into view
Our follow up attack cuts them down before they can even close on us
More movement up ahead.
And...a disturbingly pulsating shark corpse.
A zombie shambles into view
Rickenbacker and Greene take it out with ease
Another zombie, off to the right of the squad. Krauss sends a flurry of bullets into it and it shambles out of view
The shark erupts into pieces to reveal one of the insectoids! That's new and rather disturbing.
Kaos tags it with Holotargeting and shreds it with laser fire
Making easy pickings for Vector
Meanwhile, Krauss and Greene move over to finish off the zombie
We sight an industrial fishing ship of some type. Looks like that's probably the source of the Chryssalid infestation.
More sounds of movement, in the direction of the ship
The squad moves towards the ship and spots a zombie lumbering around inside it. Rickenbacker and Vector take it out.
Down in the hold of the ship is a whale carcass. Bradford surmises that it's hatching out large numbers of chryssalids.
Due to the widespread infestation, and the lack of any human life left in the village, he recommends an air strike centered on the ship. We just need to activate the transponder so they can get a lock on it.
Of course, we have to get their first. The troops move along the deck of the ship, and Vector spots a chryssalid pop out of the whale. So she pops a bullet into it.
Krauss moves up and finishes it off.
(And here I take a break from common sense to exploit the game for more kills. We'll chalk it up to Rickenbacker being awesome and wanting to kill more aliens. I learned this trick from Beaglerush's videos)
Rickenbacker decides she doesn't like the idea of trying to hit that transponder with aliens jumping up and trying to eat them, so she decides to do them a turn instead
The squad hops down and sets up in position on top of a network of tubes and machinery. As the chryssalids pop out of the whale and advance, the team cuts them down with ease.
The squad takes turns firing and reloading, ensuring that we always have enough firepower to take the aliens out
We take a moment during one lull to move Vector to the back so that she can put her strike rifle to better use
A seemingly endless stream of aliens erupting from the whale carcass and the giant tuna hanging along the walls
But finally it is over. The sounds from within the whale do not abate, though, and we decide it is time to hit the transponder and get out of here. The hold of the ship is littered in dead monsters, but it is not enough.
We move up to the top of the ship. Vector in position to hit the transponder, the rest of the squad ready to cover her retreat
The transponder is hit and the air strike is in motion! Time to get out of here!
The next wave of Chryssalids erupts from the marine life within the ship, but we don't really plan on sticking around long enough to fight them
The squad comes across another pulsating fish on the way out. Wonderful.
Krauss opens fire on the incoming insectoids
Only to have one burst out of the fish next to the squad!
Its life is short and full of lasers.
Chryssalids continue to hatch all over the map, but they keep their distance. Perhaps they have learned to fear us.
In the end, it doesn't matter. They are obliterated in a storm of fire, and the infested fishing village is wiped off the map.
An excellent mission. Flawless performance by some of the best damn soldiers on the planet!
Canada is now much calmer after that show of force, and we have a good bit more money to work with!
