I definitely need to hope for Psionic, then... Since neither MEC or Officer is any good for my character.

I'll take a dude.

Quick question though: what did you choose as the Lance Corporal perk for the German LCPL Assault?

Close Combat Specialist. While it loses some of its power later on in the game, it's pretty much an automatic pick for me. One of the few, actually.

Agalia probably isn't officer material, since he does need good positioning for his grenades.  That, and his high will make him a decent psion candidate.  The psion abilities would (IMO) complement engy perks nicely.

Okay, I'll take that dude then.

First Name: Jim
Last Name: Groovester
Nickname: Let's see what randomly generated nickname he gets first.

Spoiler: Appearance (click to show/hide)

Preferred class: Assault
Preferred weapon: Commander's discretion (but let's be honest shotguns)
Preferred equipment: Commander's discretion
Preferred tactics: Commander's discretion
Preferred Build: CCS -> Gunslinger -> Close Encounters -> EC -> Sprinter -> Lightning Reflexes; turn into a Marauder once [SPOILER] is dead.

I think [SPOILER] first show up in May? You'll need a covert operative for that. I thought about picking the Irish Assault so he could get Steadfast but 3 health for a covert operative? Ha ha no.

The squad was tasked with taking out an alien abduction attack within a subway station.

It was a difficult fight against multiple groups of Thin Men, but the squad managed to take them all out after some intense firefights and flanking maneuvers on both sides.

Our troops suffered multiple plasma wounds in the fight, but by some miracle no one was killed or even brought unconscious during the fighting.

India was most grateful for our assistance.

@Jim: The German Assault was point man in that mission. Got quite a few kills, but also got beat up and will be out of commission for over a month. Still want him?

Keep in mind that while high will is great for psionics, it's also great for officers, since they are able to replace the will of anyone nearby with theirs if their will is the higher of the two.

And my vote for one of them would go towards tiruin's character if they are cool with it. Overwatch infantry are usually close enough to others to give bonuses, and Amelia has pretty nice will so far as I understand it which will definitely help us out in the long run.

The only thing my guy's good for is shooting things. My Accuracy is high, but my willpower and mobility is average, and my HP is abysmal. >_>

Well there are three infantry and three officer slots. Do we want to just declare infantry as the master race officer training?

Although maybe we would be better off waiting until someone actually qualifies to be an officer...

I've found medics as best for officer training in all my LW campaigns :3
(even did Impossible. Ohgodsnotagain. Still doing it x_x)
I mean, its just 5 missions!

But wouldn't that be putting all your eggs in one basket? I mean, if an infantry dies... No offense, but it isn't *that* important. Compared to a medic, at least.
Or maybe I've been influenced by playing too much Planetside. >_>

Medics are definitely another good choice IMO, the fact that you put all your eggs in one basket makes it that much easier to keep it safe, and you can always just bring along a backup medic. That said personally I try to avoid setting all of my officers as a single class, because being an officer increases recovery time, and if you stack them all on a single class you can very easily end up depriving yourself of access to that class.

I usually do Medics, Infantry, or Gunners since they usually form the core of the group.

I have a medic officer and now that I'm in the late game and have things like psi inspire, mind merge, and ghost grenades for my medics to use, I find he doesn't offer enough utility to take on missions anymore.

@Jim: The German Assault was point man in that mission. Got quite a few kills, but also got beat up and will be out of commission for over a month. Still want him?

Huh.

Hrrrrrrrrrrm.

HRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRM.

Yeah, I think I'll keep him. It's unfortunate about the wound time but that's Long War I guess.

Yes. Yes you have :3
Considering the Medic tree--even with Training Roulette--is hard set to include 1 class-specific Medic skill (gotta love Field Surgeon//Paramedic), the Medic usually...lacks combat oriented abilities, given that every tier has a medic-skill in it.
So yeah ._.

Why would you use medics as leaders when you could use them as giant robots instead?
