It was Medium as a rookie, you just haven't bother to improve it any since becoming an Engineer.

So many lost ravers who now disco amongst the stars. There shall be a jive for their memories.

Too bad the terror mission skimped on the promotions, but still, good result I would say. Any battle that you can walk away from...

We will be needing another satellite and there is the matter of uplinks not growing upon trees... Saving our cash might be wise but, meh, I will refrain from voting, I am not really feeling it...

Now that I look again, I see I've been putting all my points in Will instead.  Third best; let's hope I turn out psycho psychic.

Now that is a cool thing about Long War, psychics are no longer limited to random soldiers. Instead anyone with enough Psy XP from resisting psy attacks (excluding officers, MEC's, and soldiers with that one gene mod) can spend about a week in the Psy-lab to have a chance of becoming a psychic based on their will (tends to top out at about the 60% chance for level 1 from what I've seen). If they fail there is no penalty, they can keep trying again and again until they successfully make it. :D

Huh o-o
This has always been a 100% success here. I've wondered on the pass/fail chance--its actually that percentage being shown when soldiers are tested!
Always confused me, that one mechanic -_-

Some soldier updates

I still need Level Up decisions from GUNINANRUNIN and Tiruin

We can now give out Officer commissions!

It'll be a little bit before anyone is eligable, but we should start thinking about who our Player Officers are going to be. Many officer perks effect nearby soldiers, so Snipers, Scouts, and Assaults tend to be poor choices. People with Lone Wolf are pretty much right out. The wording for officers is a little bit vague, but basically you need at least 5 missions under your belt before you can become an officer. I'm going to assign two Player officers and one NPC officer, at least for now. We can get more later when we have higher ranks available.

A few days later the Aliens launch an attack on India.

With light alien presence detected, another training group is sent to deal with the issue.

So begins Operation Red Mother

A note for other's but lots of officer stuff doesn't stack as well (will substitution is kinda pointless with more than one officer, for example), so it's generally a good idea to assume that the two player officers should be on separate "teams". Also note that becoming an officer disables you from serving as a MEC or psionic soldier, so don't vote to become one if you plan on becoming either of those later!

I dunno man, psionics look pretty awesome.

Speaking of which, do you know if the passive and active psionic defensive options stack with smoke grenades? I'm getting hilarious mental images of popping a +40 defense smoke grenade as a free action, popping a +40 defense psionic field as a normal action, and then providing another +10 defense psionic field for free at all times.

I'm waaaay out, since I'm

A) Aiming for Psionic (due to my character inspiration)
and
B) A scout.

What's an MEC, by the way?

MEC is a cybernetic exoskeleton (something like the exosuits in COD:AW). You need a MEC trooper to use one of those suits, giving the trooper a different set of skills, which means it's not always for everyone.

Functionally, it makes your soldier gain the perks of a robotic unit (extra armour, way more powerful weapons, gains increased damage reduction (LW-specific)) while retaining the drawbacks of a human unit (can be affected by psionics, can panic).

I believe that M.E.C. replaces your established specialities(but keeps a similar theme) and turns you into a heavy unit that cannot use cover.

I would be happy for Villiams to become an officer, as they have a plan that would not mix well with M.E.C.(as far as I can tell from the wiki...) and psionics seem too action-intensive to suit them(The plan being to overwatch or suppress on every single turn). But on the other hand, my will will be more clear later, so perhaps it would be best to wait. No point having a leader that panics at the sight of ichor...

Err, did I miss anything? You asked if I wanted to be an Engineer or a Medic, or random it in hopes of getting my dream profession. I said random it (and hugged a four leaf clover). :P

Edit: Curses. A cursed four leaf clover >_>
Some Soldier updates:
Spoiler: I am not a scout :C (click to show/hide)
Tiruin: The RNG gods have decided that you will be Infantry. Let me know how you want your equipment/combat style changed.

Bwuh. <_<
Give me Covering Fire.
Equipment change: Anything that gives + to damage/Aim. Also give me a Tac Vest. Do not prioritize my Health, but prioritize my Mobility.
Tactic change: Prioritize a Guardian-tactic; overwatch and pointman tactics.

I believe that M.E.C. replaces your established specialities(but keeps a similar theme) and turns you into a heavy unit that cannot use cover.
In XCOM: EW: LW, the MEC trooper cannot:
> Be a psionic troop (as in, have psi-abilities)
> Be an officer
> Get into cover.

However, the diversification of classes (8 classes) = 8 different types of MEC!
All are awesome.

Also suggestion to Mephansteras: PRIORITIZE AERIAL UPGRADES.
The Laser Cannon, with emphasis on this weapon (compared to the Phoenix Cannon which is a lot better) has the same accuracy on Def/Bal/Agg :P
Both that one and the Phoenix Cannon (along with associated Foundry upgrades) make the game a lot more fun.
...
I love that sparrowhawk foundry project ♥

Quick question though: what did you choose as the Lance Corporal perk for the German LCPL Assault?
