I look so stoked to be next to the garbage bin in that second battle image!

I'll Stick to the plan and take covering fire on Vil. Plus three aim should be pretty nice if nothing else, and the old "shoot first, ask if they want to do anything later" thing should have its uses...

Are you looking for something like one of these two? Though perhaps with different colors...
I know they aren't actual ghillie suits, but I don't think XCOM has anything like that.

I'm not sure if this game even has anything without big, chunky armor plates. Maybe the carapace armor?

On a side note, where is your avatar from? It looks kind of like a Fire Emblem character from the GBA games to me. (Though I know she isn't.)

But its...its the first idea that came to mind when I saw the neckguard, as well as the ballistic vest and supports, however on why it did still eludes me. I believe its how the set-up requires--as in, minus the camouflage (though yeah, its not...I get it x_x)

Err, I'm exactly looking at that armor :P
Though I only have the Long War mod here and not all the other mods Mephansteras has, so I maybe picking a lack when there may be existing the armor I'm envisioning (I'm fine with any, though . . . but I would prefer something akin to the armor in MassEffect combined with that armor mentioned for Ghaffar...:P)

She is, actually. Protagonist from FE8(?) (after blazing sword//where Lynn is featured), but colored and spliced by a good friend (Swordstar), but then I edited the skin color tone/hair color as well as custom made the background.
So...err, yeah. It's basically spliced from the FE8 mugs (and costumes), customized background, and with an awesome splice by a friend.

Well... It's not like there was any harm done... But, I mean, to me, that's pretty much the exact opposite of a ghillie suit. <_<

Personally, I really kind of dislike that bulky, armored look. It just doesn't sit right with me. Then again, I've always had tankiness as my least important attribute. ^_^

Huh. No wonder I thought she looked oddly familiar (I've played both FE8 and FE9 reasonably extensively.) That would be Eirika, then?

Unfortunately I couldn't find a better quality standalone image from the same perspective as your avatar, but I can see the resemblance now. The background is quite well done, by the way. It fits the picture of the character perfectly. I actually thought the entire thing was custom made, but the resemblance to FE's art style was so uncanny I just had to ask.

The clutter doesn't matter. Clutter is good! (Unless it's in the way of things, which this isn't, really.)
I'd suggest editing your character application to clarify the appearance you actually want though, just to make it a little easier on Mephan.

It's cool. I figured out which armor she wanted, actually, and pointing to a soldier from an existing line-up makes it even clearer.

However, both Tiruin and Angle should note that we don't have any available soldiers from the USA if you look at the roster. I can get more rookies, but there is no guarantee that we'll get Americans any time soon. There are lots of countries for the game to choose from.

If you want a soldier now/soonish I recommend picking an unnamed one from the Barracks list in the OP.

Fun note about my mental process: The words that pop up are usually on a parallel to what the exact term is.
Meaning: They can be FAR off course that way. XD Despite me envisioning the idea with vivid and full clarity.

here on Bay12? I might have to look at it at some point. I'm reasonably interested in attempting sprite-based artwork, though I only have from-scratch experience with hand drawn pencil stuff. I'm trying to get a drawing tablet for my PC but it's so damn hard to find one, no idea why. T_T
Aside from hand-drawn stuff, I also make forum signatures, avatars (kind of, I mostly just cut them out from the signatures), and smart-phone backgrounds using Photoshop and GIMP. ^_^
I'd have some of my stuff here, but the signature image limit on this forum is tiiiiiny. >_>

If some look lower quality than others, they were probably made while I still had the teething problems of transferring from GIMP to Photoshop. >_>

Argentina has requested Sectoid corpses from us in exchange for an expert scientist to join our staff. A trade I am more than happy to make!




A medium sized alien vessel has appeared over Africa. I'm not sure if our interceptors are up to the task, but we scramble the fighters. We can't just let the aliens walk all over us!


Unfortunately, even two interceptors were unable to seriously damage the alien craft. With just one functioning interceptor left to us, I make the decision to let the alien craft go. I can only hope we caused enough damage to interfere with their plans.




Our Air situation is looking grim. We're going to need to upgrade our fighters in some way if we're to keep up with the alien Activities!


We trade more of our dwindling supply of alien weapon fragments to Argentina for another Engineer. We need all the skilled hands we can get around here!


A few days later we get word of another abduction attempt. This time it is in Russia. The troops ready for battle.


Since Intel indicates the abduction is happening on a roadway, I decide to send in long range support for this mission. Two snipers, an an LMG on our Gunner



The Sky Ranger heads down to another Dam. What are the aliens trying to do to our water supplies?

I've noticed how it says "Argentine is now better able to defend itself" and I was wondering if that actually has meaning or if it's just flavor text. Is Argentina's ability to defend itself *actually* increased, or does it make no difference?
