Holy crap did I have some trouble with this beast!

Did you know creatures can burn through cages? I did not. It was wooden cages but I was under the ipression that cage material doesnt matter.

Short story.

FB humanoid made of flame has come. No big deal, Ignore.

FB is chasing caverncreatures burning everything and vaporises water so that my only water reserve wont go above 2/7 rendering my wells useless.

Still no big deal, send entire miltary. About 10 dwarfs but all legendary.

All miltary dead. Maleedwarfs wont target beacuse you cant target flame (I really like this, makes things harder) Markswarfs shoot on sight only but too slow.

Manage to seal the caverns and construct a corridoor with webbed cagetraps. This should trick.

Still posts 10 new marksdwarfs behind fortifications out of reach from flames and construct a table in the shooting lane just to be sure if the FB gets past cagetraps.

FB Caught. start planning how to release the beast upon goblin sieges. laughs.

Wooden Cage is XX and on fire. FB also starts to shoot flames out from the cage.

Cage is no more, FB caught in next cage.

Run out of cage traps. Fortress is likely lost

Untrained marksdwarfs kill FB with lucky shot.

This was the most FUN I have had with DF in months. I love it.

That's strange, to say the least. Last time I heard anything about cages being destructable, it was debunked. I don't remember hearing anything about it being changed, either.

It probably ignited the cage before it was caught and then it just burned away.

if it can shoot fire from inside the cage than it makes sense that it could light it on fire from inside.

Being able to attack from inside the cage is kind of weird. Dragons that are captured (assuming they don't burn your cage down before they get on the trap) aren't able to do this afaik.

I know what your title means to say, but at first I read this as the FB being made of dead dwarves, flame, etc.  It would have been the best FB ever!

The dwarves won't obey a kill order that involves pathing through a *hot* tile. (Actually creatures that aren't immune to fire won't path into heat/flame tiles at all).

Im not sure. The first couple of shots fired (from the elite marksdwarfs that died) just vanished. Either they missed without showing up in the reports or the insanely hot FB melted the bolts.

Yeah, dragonfire doesn't boil water away. However, fire men -do- boil water away.

yup ambient tempature vs ability.

i.e.  dragons arent the temperature of fire.  Fire monsters are.
