I think vampires have a specific kill message - "Urist McDwarf has been found dead, drained of blood" or something. Dying in the middle of the dining hall is more than a bit odd, though. Not sure what might have caused that.

That's exactly what showed on the guy that died in the middle of the dining hall lol.

Seems like I need ot find who the vampire is.

On another note, I got to layer 35 and decided to use dfhack to see if I missed the cave already...

The cave has like 5 layers and the big cave only shows up in layer 50..

Jesus christ.

I searched through the history and this one has the biggest blue text, however there a few things that I just can't seem to connect so I doubt he's a vampire.

First his name shows up on dwarf therapist and wiki said it shouldn't.

Second it says he has tan skin.

Third it says he's weak.

However he's also pretty old, has a lot of blue text (the dwarf with most blue text right now)

And...
He's also my mayor lol

I think old vampires are likely to have killed thousands of people, so check his invetory for bone amulets/bracelets/rings.
Also, if he is that old, he should have a BIGGER blue text. I think he is not a vampire.

Check his skills. He's likely to be highly skilled in a number of things if he's a vampire. Also check your justice screen - people should be leveling accusations of vampirism at each other. Be careful, though; vampires can accuse others to protect themselves.

I just realised how awesome this game is, again. Vampires accuse others to protect themselves.

the name difference between therapist and the game is now something that can be toggled I think? Tan skin also doesn't mean a thing, nor does 'weak'. Vampires learn to fake that they are normal. The huge amounts of amulets and other trophies have been removed a long time ago, weren't they?

One thing I'm not sure of. It used to be that a vampire didn't have a bedroom. After all, a dwarf only claimed one if he needed to sleep, and vampired didn't need to sleep. So a dwarf that has his own bed (felt pleasure near own bed.... ew) is unlikely to be a vampire.

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

He was the vampire in the end. Had to use DFHack to make sure, since it was my first vampire I just wanted to see how one looks like so that I can deal with them in the future

They have in the past accused stock animals of crimes. I am not sure if this has been fixed or not.

On the item is an image of a dwarf and an elephant. The elephant is striking down the dwarf.

He used to be a priest of a religion involving dirt. The position names can be interesting - I think I've fought in mortal combat with a high fish.

Lool I baited him into his mayor room and locked him inside and then demoted him into a peasant. Made him the manager / Bookkeeper though.

He had really awesome skills though he was an awesome broker and fighter.

Also some questions:

1- Is there any benefits or anything rare I can find in the caves? My cave is at 50Z lvls under the surface..

2- What are sperm whales that people keep talking about lol

3- My farmers used 100+ plump helmet seeds and now I'm out of them, how can people keep up with the plump seeds? Mine ran out in no time. Plants also seem to be very scarce at the moment as I target the whole area for my gatherers to get plants and it barely highlights 6 or 7

4- How to quickly increase my overall wealth? I have 1.2M Wealth and I have a shit load of hours in this current save and no goblin attacks yet. Currently have 96 dwarves

http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Giant_sperm_whale

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sperm_whale

Several of us have spontaneously gone a little crazy over making an industry off of them, They are this year's sea serpents.

There are forgotten beasts that will spawn in the caves and they are like underground titans. They add a lot of !!FUN!! sometimes depending on what they are made of.

There are a lot of creatures down there, including giant cave spiders you can capture and use to make silk farms. I haven't done this yet but intend to.

Also, at the very very bottom, below the molten rock layer is the best treat of all. But you will have to discover that for yourself.

I'll have some fun then :D

also:

5 minutes after the werehyena had a giant attack me... More like a giant pussy.

At the first bolt thrown at him he ran crying for help haha.

as my army went running for him he quickly fell down. What a dissapointment.

1- Is there any benefits or anything rare I can find in the caves? My cave is at 50Z lvls under the surface..
There are animals that only live in caverns. There are also plants and trees there. After you breached a cavern those plants and trees start randomly grow on soil in your fortress. Usually there are underground lakes, if you lack water. And there may or may not be some very rare metal ore.
2- What are sperm whales that people keep talking about lol
Just the largest creatures in the game.
3- My farmers used 100+ plump helmet seeds and now I'm out of them, how can people keep up with the plump seeds? Mine ran out in no time. Plants also seem to be very scarce at the moment as I target the whole area for my gatherers to get plants and it barely highlights 6 or 7
If you don't cook plump helmets or the seeds, you should not lose any seeds. But you can run out of them if you don't eat or brew the plants. So check your kitchen settings and make some booze.
4- How to quickly increase my overall wealth? I have 1.2M Wealth and I have a shit load of hours in this current save and no goblin attacks yet. Currently have 96 dwarves
Just produce goods. If you really want big wealth boost, you can try to make your next artifact worth several millions dwarfbucks. See http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Planepacked for details. I don't thik you need to, goblins shall come sooner or later.
