Oh dear Armok, did you mean the exported map images?

Those are like multi-megabyte files, make a .png copy and it will go down to just a few mb at most, probably under 1 mb.

Converting to jpg and compressing the exported map files is one way of doing it. I'd recommend just screenshotting the game from one of the map views.

It's the kind of people the game attracts, for one thing. And also because the game is so dense... most of us only need to think back a couple of years to when we were the ones fumbling around.

Use that "compress_bitmaps.bat" in your df folder. The png should be less than 100kb, better than photoshop generated png.
A jpg can still be more than 1mb if yours is a 257x257 map.

If you are using any graphics package other than the default ascii one, the result can be reallyreally huge.

Finally!

You are gonna struggle fps wise in that world I think. Supposedly the size of the world and such has an effect, anyway.

So what is special about this one anyway that got it 1k rejects?

nothing really. the parameters it had kept it from placing enough low elevation tiles to satisfy it. eventually I just told it to ignore the problem and keep gening then when it gave me another problem I told it to ignore all problems. the world is not really that special but I see a lot of places were an army has to go through a pass to reach your area. in fact there is a desert with the only way in over the mountains or down the river. there is also one necromancer tower. there seems to be a small shortage of civs. that's my high mega beast and titan pop I guess

oh yea you can get some lovely little valleys nestled between mountains sometimes with world gen. I always avoid them because you don't get caravans tho.

but a few of these valleys have openings, I imagine it will slow down invaders...unless they decide to not use fast travel and just scale the mountains.
I found a nice embark with lots of jade to.

I'm looking for pocket worlds atm because my forts seem to die laggy deaths.

But I will take the seeds anyway if you have them.

my forts tend to die on boredom hiatus. I do have a small world with 3 necromancer towers...hardtop find an embark not in range of at least to. lots of embarks in range of 3. want?
its fun for adventuring and fortress.
