Alicia chuckled at him and shoved the flask into his pack of things before anyone had time to do notice.

: "Oh yah... She bought a fresh supply didn't she? I forgot about that!"

: "You better hold onto yours though. I'd probably drink it up right quick. The stuff's addicting I tell ya."

: I 'ave like three of 'em! She got carried away a wee little with the money.

Barry turned to Cetus, who suffered the same fate as him.

: Oi, ya look like hammered shit, an' I don't wanna lose any of our crew, especially not the healer so, can't ye just hit yerself with that staff of yers?

"Wish it worked like that... Can't use my own magic to heal myself. Well... Not like you mean. Complicated. Where's other healer..."

: "Who were they though? They seemed so... Strong."
"I bet its either local law enforcement...of another sort, given the mentioned bounty, or perhaps a bounty hunter or mercenary task force."

Jesseo adjusted her grip on her staff and resumed her response on Elanore's note.

"I know little on the magics used, but their arsenal was well-equipped, probably of mention that it was a private gig, maybe- or what our Captain said. That makes a good call, too."

Making her way amongst the bodies, Jesseo arrived at Cestus' wounded body.

She instantly regretted not making a formal body-count and spotting her allies in the midst of all this mess. Hastily, she tapped him with her staff.

"Sorry there friend. I-...got carried away in the moment. Wow that stings-erm, sorry again..."

Her eyes met the broken bow of that one horseman who met his fate...morbidly, at the hands of her contractor.

Hmm, I wonder-range has a significant advantage, as I've read in that one book. Perhaps I may be able to support my friends somehow, despite my...strength. Though wielding a bow that size..I must ask.

"Hey, um-Cestus? Do you know a place where I could...perhaps equip myself with a weapon? A bow, preferably? I'd like to make sure wounds--much like yours--are prevented."

: "Oh... Well... In that case... Maybe just a lil then."

Trade for one Vuln! ((If allowed))

---

Seeing that Barry had gone over to talk to Cetus, Alicia joined in the fun.

: "Oh come on. Healing can't be that hard. What do you healers do to get it to go all glowy, glowy anyways? Twist the knob a lil?"

Feeling the healing flowing through his body, Cetus sighed in relief.

"That's much better, thank you. As for bows... Perhaps we will find a store along the way, but I doubt we'll stay here long enough for you to go shopping."

Alicia arrived and started asking questions about magic and he barely managed to contain a sigh.

"It's complicated. It requires you to have a natural gift for magic first of all. You need to draw on the magical energies in your body and channel them through the staff. You can then direct the energies into someone else in the form of a healing spell. The magic forms into the healing spells through the runes carved on the staff before being focused in the gem on the top. Different runes and gems will result in different spells. It's similar to how a mage will use tomes as a focus and the words of the spell to form their magic. It is not easy. There is a way I have been working on that will periodically refresh your own body, but it's more complicated because it doesn't have the energy leave the body."

: "Sort of like this... Right?"

Drawing her blade, Alicia cut a wound into her arm and flicked off the blood. She laid her hand on top of it to stop the bleeding and continued speaking.

: "When I was a kid, my parents went to go show me to a priest in the local temple to have my signs read. They told my parents that I had some potential for the magical arts, but that I was going to be a pain in the ass to teach. I had the natural talent needed, but I really couldn't give two shits about runes and all that crap. They tried to teach me but I really just didn't have the mind for it. I picked up a few tricks like this one though."

She lifted her hand, revealing that the arm wound had healed itself. Only a thin scar was visible where she cut her arm.

: "That's one of the things they showed me before I stopped listening. Since I don't use magic actively or channel it through an item, I can use it on myself to heal. Makes for a neat little parlor trick or for games of five finger fillet."

"It glows?" Jesseo questioned the notion. "Everytime a wound undergoes first intervention--like, when you see it heal, each one of us. . .erm, thinks about...the wounded becoming hale. It's a very-. . .complicated idea. Best described as: we like you to be better."

She looked up at her staff.

"Though I've never seen mine glow. The basic function also lies in the laws of energy--you may only give less than what is needed to support you or you risk giving your own life for another: something I've never seen before, however. It requires focus and concentration, something that doesn't feel like work when you're used to doing it."

((Dear goodness this didn't even post >_>))

"I would like to rest, but I want to finally found out what the crystal does. Let's go now."

And they've set out into the land...

~~Chapter 2: At the Gate of Wisdom~~

The journey took almost two days. The green pastures and glades were slowly replaced by rocky hills and bush-covered plains. Soon, these eroded into plain dust and rock as well. Villages, once frequent, were now occassional encamptments around small lakes and ponds that provided water.

And then, less than hour away from their destination, they've saw the sea - sea of sand.

"It seems that we're approaching the desert. I heard a story once that all this was beautiful land of meadows before Old Gods did what they did... there should be a village, according to that traveling merchant caravan, right?" It took only few minutes to turn a hill and spot just few houses standing at edge of the desert. Few trees and meager grass were growing around a small pond.

"Aha, there we are. We gotta find someone and ask where the House of Scholars-- did you hear that? Was someone shouting?"

Meanwhile, in the village...

A bunch of youths drew their swords and looked at a group of rag-clothed people coming from the south. One of the youths turned to speak with a pair of strangers.

"Travelers, return to the inn. This is a bandit attack and we don't want random visitors get involved."

"Heh, this time we're gonna plunder this village. Onwards, kill and loot what you can! Let's get this done before Divron comes bragging about looting that damned temple."

Meanwhile, at the mountain road to the west...

"Gah-- Boss! We've been spotted, there's a nun!"

"Dammit! Kill her! If the monks erect their magical defenses, we will have to ask my brother for help - again!"

//Alister Rooks, Amberly and Glenn Faerr are in!

~~Player Turn 1~~

Objectives:
Amberly: Retreat inside House of Scholars and warn the other monks!
Others: Help defeat the raiders!

The young swordsman placed his hand at the hilt of his sword and answered.
"I doubt you can take on all of these bandits alone. Besides, I came all the way over here to try and find a job. I'm not going to sit by and let this town get destroyed by bandits before I can even do that!"

After two days of incessant traveling with little supplies and without booze, Alicia was running dry on a lot of things. Her meager bread supply had ran out a long time ago. Booze was nonexistent. Worse yet, it'd had been a long time since she had been in a good brawl. At this rate, her sword arm was going to get rusty. The sooner they got this journey over with this wild goose chase the better.

: "It's probably just crookie domestic dispute or something between old people. They probably don't have anything else to in this backwoods, no good, expanse of dirt and sand. It's a wonder why anyone lives here... Still. Maybe we better check it out."

Alicia moves up to 30,6.
