"All of this is very interesting and would be great subject matter for a campfire afterwards, but there are mo-" She stopped her remark cold when something caught her eye to the south.

She nearly spilled the rest of the vulnerary she used on Jesseo in her rush down the hills and southwards, completely forgetting about the battle as her attention was wrapped up in the possibility of finding either stingweed or the chamomile commonly found around such flora.

Alister nods to Luc - or her puppet (which was the real Luc?) and answers her question.

: "NeOl is to me what the Old Gods are to us now: an out of context problem no one quite expected. "It" is a quite evil being first contacted by the G.E.N. many decades ago. Roughly speaking, it is a god. We have no way to harm it, so most of my comrades worship it for fear of punishment. Like many of my comrades, I was sent to this remote planet in hopes of finding some technology that could counteract its godly magic."

The pair of cavalry and their mounts were defeated. One horse disappeared into the wilderness, rider gone, the other she'd skewered through the neck and squire both.

A bunch of questions filled her mind. She knew that the air got thinner the higher you went; if you got as high as the stars, there'd be no air. If he was from the stars, he must be from some other world. How did they travel between them? Why didn't he have weapons capable of splitting the world asunder, like the Old Gods had done to them?

"I-if you're from the stars, w-why do you just have a bow, and n-not some godly weapon? A-a ray of fire, o-or something?"

It was clear she had a lot of questions, but she stuck to the most pressing to the matter at hand. She could try to ask him about the stars later. Or maybe get Jo to ask. Alister's previous brusqueness made the idea of starting a conversation later quite intimidating.

Alister held high his seemingly ordinary self bow.

: "This is clearly a Terracloaked Welt-Action Neutra-Gun. It incorporates all the latest welting and neutralizing technology from G.E.N. We're encouraged to kill as little as possible, but of course, these are special circumstances. I'm surprised a race as, er, technologically advanced as yours wouldn't know an origin-cloaked device when you see one. No, this is mundane technology compared to... compared to..."

Alister pointed at Elanore casting dark magic.

: "What, exactly, is she doing? I've never seen tech like that in my life."

Lucrezia understood very little of what he just said, but she understood the question.

"Neutra-gun...? I don't understand. Is that what y-you call bows in your language? But that -"- hand and puppet pointed towards Elanore - "T-that's magic. Not technology. I-I don't know much about m-magic, but that's dark magic. I-it's old spirits, h-hateful and mean. I-I think."

: "Magic is simply a cause-effect chain in which one or more of the steps are unknown or unknowable. You say it's old spirits? What do you mean? Do the souls of men and women not dissipate in this world?"
