"What I don't understand is why you feel a need to show such disrespect for people who don't believe as you do. Regardless of what you think of the Old Gods themselves, their worshipers are ordinary men, women, and children. The fact that you would so gleefully disrupt their prayers and ceremonies for nothing more than your own amusement...well, it doesn't say much about your characters. Especially you, priest. I would have expected a leader of the faith to be a bit more understanding. How would you react if a shrine to Undine were desecrated, perhaps on your watch?"

Elanore tilted her head. The priestess had heard, how annoying.
: "Those ordinary men, women and children? Hmph. Tell that to the scattered cults. Tell it to the cult my parents were in, I'm sure they're ordinary men and women, and I'm sure that I would've been an ordinary child in one of them, brainwashed into thinking whatever they wanted." Elanore got heated at the end there, though she exhaled, and continued to talk, this time a little bit calmer.
: "Anyway, if you had heard the beginning of our conversation, you would've realized that I wasn't just going to make a fuss without a reason. I dislike the old gods, Demura especially, but I'm not going to go out of my way to cause trouble for no good reason."

Cetus growled slightly under his breath before answering the cloaked woman.

"I've lived in those temples, I've spent time with those religious leaders. And even if I hadn't found out that these so called Gods were actually simply mortal beings fleeing from their dying world, I would still have no respect for that religion. They only care about control and power, they abuse the weak, take advantage of the poor, and persecute those who claim to not believe in the same thing they do. You say that it is us who are out of line? What about those who have been imprisoned, exiled, killed for not being part of the "proper" religion?"

Stheno briefly acknowledged Jesseo's thanks with a nod, though she was lost in the sudden religious discussion that had erupted in the middle of combat. Originally she intended to make a snappish comment towards Elanore about the hypocrisy of starting a debate when just moments before the shaman had emphasized the urgency of battle, but then she observed what might have been a record breaking number of theological positions (including theories she had never heard before) in a single locale and within moments of each other. It was enough to make her head spin.
