Alicia in her vaguely limp and disoriented state was not happy to picked up by a drunk.

: "..Barry... How is this helping?"

~~Enemies Turn!~~

The mage quickly blasted Barry over with magics, and Alicia was sent tumbling toward the railing.

"It's mine... mine alone..." The old mage collapsed and the ball rolled toward Ethan, who lifted it.

~~Prologue Complete!~~

"Hmm, warm to the touch? Might be magical... gonna pay lots. Anyways, Cetus, provide healing to our people. I have to talk with our captain there."

"..." The greying, now also pale, man behind the steering wheel didn't seem to be eager to converse with Ethan at all.

: Well it's not like I'm gonna let ya near my medicine. I'd never see it again...

The magic then hit Barry in a sensitive spot.

: Ow!! He BURNED my ASS!

The resident fencer in training contemplated briefly about her life as she peered over the edge of the ship from her precarious position on the ground.

: "Shiiiit..."

: "Heh heh... Barry... You and the captain owe me a stiff one as soon as we get on shore. A'right?"

Alicia reached down into her pocket for her empty bottle of vulnerary and scraped her finger through the remains of the magical elixir. She held the finger to her nose and inhaled the luscious lemon scent as she rose slowly.

: "I call dibs on the medicine cabinet! I've got to get me more of the good stuff."

: "And Barry. Just for the record I wouldn't kiss your hairy ass if my life depended on it."

"Undine protect me from idiots..."

He sighed and started to heal those around him. Pausing at Barius, he shook his head. As he healed him, he commented,

"Perhaps next time worry more about yourself than about carrying others around. I would have reached her quickly enough and instead you risked both of your lives."

"Sure am glad that's over. I can't stand fights with lots of lance users." Aiesha rolled her shoulders.

"Allright captain, be a nice man and tell me; is this ship loaded with goods and valuables?" Ethan moved up to the captain

"N-No... just grain for the poor children and famine victims in Enfalljar... Ethan's axe tapped him on the chest.

"Oh that's too bad. And that's why you had a contingent of Domirian soldiers and their leader shouting about Lord somethingsomething's treasures? Or was I just hallucinating to the sound of sea waves."

"...allright, there's Lord Antore's wedding gifts to his daughter and some of heirlooms and gold and coinage, for Einfalljar-"

"Fine, keep the grain. And we will be happy in just taking, say, eighty percent of coin and gold. Gifts and heirlooms, of course, I bet they will pay in more than pure coin. Doesn't it sound good? After all, I'm not a heartless monster - I'm a reasonable man!"

"H-How about we agree on... sixty..."

"What was that I heard?"

"I mean... Seventy?" Ethan rubbed his chin at this proposal.

"Hmmm... allright, but you jump into the sea and the ship is mine! How about that?" The captain paled for a while and looked as if about to faint.

"...eighty it is then."

"Splendid! How wonderful it is to meet a fellow reasonable man like you, captain. Allright folks, time to count and loot!"

---

The larger ship departed as Ethan rubbed his hands and looked over the several chests and numerous bags now occupying the deck of Blackbones.

"Half of that is ours, guys. The rest goes to Admiralty to cover our expenses."

Party got 4800 Gold!

Ethan then looked the crystal orb all over.

"Cetus, is this thing magical? Something useful?" He handed it to their crew's healer.

Cetus took the orb and carefully looked over it, frowning slightly. He considered tapping it with his staff, but it looked a tad fragile to risk it. Instead, he slowly concentrated on it.

"Hmm... I... It's hard to tell. It feels like it might be, but it's... odd. Something's not quite right about it."

"It's shiny and a crystal. That's already a sellable material. Do tell if it has magical properties. Shiny, magical crystals pay even more on the market."

Cetus sighed.

"Yes it's magical but... I couldn't tell you anything more. It's magical but I don't have any idea what it does. And that's dangerous. We shouldn't risk selling something that we have no ideas about. It could be a weapon of some sort. Or... anything."

"The only danger I see in selling some magic bauble we don't understand is that we accidentally sell it cheap. As soon as it's away from us, there's no danger. I think the boss has the right idea."

Cetus winced.

"Ah yes. No problem at all. Not a chance that us selling an artifact that could possibly do harm to some rich and powerful person could ever come back and haunt us. No, not a chance."

He sighed, not quite sure why these people didn't understand.

: Why don't we ask someone that DOES know? If they know what it is they'll probably be willing to give us more money!

: And if they try to trick us we can SMACK them and keep the bloody thing for ourselves!
