"I don't... I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking. There's no way to prove what happened to it. It could have been you, it could have been nothing, it could have been one of those machines. Just don't... please don't cry?"

Aiesha had stood up when the soft sounds of Lucrezia crying, and soon spotted both her and Cetus. "Cetus, are you making girls cry again?"

"What? I don't, no, I'm... I don't make girls cry normally! I don't... Why are you making things worse?"

[Blade Master Model 42]

"You made Alicia cry that one time, remember? It was right after you joined the crew- No, was it right after I did? Alicia? Whatever, someone had just joined up, and we did our first real raid, and we pulled a ton of stuff off our target, and we were on our way back. Then another ship started following us and it turned out it was one of our target's escort ships that had been missing when we actually hit it, and now it was chasing us down and we were going really slow and Ethan said to dump anything cheap we didn't need and you dumped Alicia's beer and when she found out after we gave it the slip she fell down on the deck and wept. Actually, I think Barry cried too." Aiesha turned to holler down the hall.

"Hey Barry! Did you cry that time Cetus threw the ale overboard or was that just Alicia?"

He sighed and closed his eyes.

Beryn got up and wandered over.

"C'mon, darlin'. Don't cry. It'll be all right."

"I'm sure Cetus didn't mean anything. It's a priest thing, y'know, they all put their foots in their mouths sometimes."

Beryn reached over, tilting her chin up with the side of his index finger, and wiped away the tears on her left cheek with his thumb.

"Everybody's made mistakes; some small, some huge. World's still turning, sun's still rising. Give it a few days and they won't even remember a broken panel. I doubt they even blame you for it now. Stuff here is ancient, y'know? It's like an old hammer. You hit a nail with it, it might stay together, or the haft might snap. Just one of those things, nothing to blame for it but age."

Cetus just gave up at this point and walked away, having both completely ruined Luc's day and then utterly failed at any attempt at making things better, thanks in part to Aiesha, Beryn, and Barry. So instead he found a quiet corner and sat down, and tried to relax.
