Alicia straightened up a bit. Ooh. A mage.

: "A pleasure. Th' name's Alicia. Blade for hire and resident Fencer here aboard the Blackbones. I'm new to the job, but I can clean up after myself and help keep this ship running when other people don't."

Lucrezia frowned at Alicia. She supposed they'd best meet the captain before they make a final decision, one way or another.
"S-so - where is the Captain?"

Jesseo tried her best to copy the ventriloquism with body language, looking around in subtle gestures and making the best and the least of lip-movement; she was unsure, in part, of Lucrezia's penchant for ventriloquism, but decided that it was her past--and it was her choice as to when this would be revealed, as was like her own storytelling back on the forest road.

"And the first mate? There's a hierarchy to all this, right?"

At least, if this would be pairing with a privateer get-up, Jo would be assured of a chain of command should things go...awry.

"First mate?" He briefly considered the question. There was five of them, hardly a need for one.

"Aiesha is, I guess. I hope she told you the deal - we're going to House of Scholars to solve one mystery, then come back here. You get paid one hundred coins for this. We would go ourselves but I don't think there's any good land fighter amongst our crew, so extra hands will be useful. By the way."

"Barry, wake up. Everyone is going and so is you."

: Wha? I mean... AYE CAP'N!

The rum in Alicia's stomach went sour in an instant. What? What? How did she... Ooooooh hell no. Who the hell does he think keeps the ship running? This girl. Who had to help had to help with the rigging because no one else knew the job? This girl. If it wasn't for her, they probably wouldn't have gotten out of port. GRAAAAAGH!! Her brain was a boiler. Alicia was shocked at the captain's decision and her face showed it. That petty ass little shi-

"Oh Undine, I'm gonna be sick."

And lo! Alicia got up as calmly as possible over to the starboard side opposite the rest of the crew and ejected the contents of her stomach off the ship.

[Haspen]

"You two are drinking too much methinks."

With that, Ethan shrugged and went down to the harbor, and nodded to everyone.

"Everyone ready, I hope?"

:"Ah, I'd been hoping to do a bit of haggling: I'd be willing to lower my cost to 85 on the condition that should we find any fire tomes I get to keep them."

[Haspen]

"Well, I don't think there's much to visit on the way to said House of Scholars, but sure, whatever fire book loot we get, is yours."

: "Barry... Be a dear and grab me a bite of the bread ration would you? Otherwise, yeah. I'm ready."

Lucrezia was ready, and carefully made her way up the gangplank to stand on the ship. She wrinkled her nose at the smell of booze that wafted from Barry and Alicia, and carefully stayed a wide distance from the drunken man.

[Haspen]

"Do not get used to the ship, lady, I doubt you will be sailing on it." A young boy in rags ran up to Ethan, who looked down at the child. The captain furrowed his brow for a while.

"Rob?"

"Noooo, I'm Zach! Rob is the fat one! You Captain Ethan, am I rite?"

"Yeah. Wait here." Ethan took some coins from the bag and placed it in the kid's hands.

Party loses 15 gold!

"Now speak."

"Wooah, thanks! Allright, so my friend heard from one of the street guys that some foreigners are looking fer ya and there's horseman captain leading them!"

"Foreigners, you say?"

"Uh-huh! He gotta be mercenary and he was talking how many guys are with you and if you're in the port. And he had enough money to get the guys to speak, too! And there was this fancy lady, with scary blue eyes, and we think she was with the mercenary guy!" Ethan frowned, and then gave the kid few more coins.

Party loses 15 gold!

"Allright, for this, be of help and tell the admiralty guards that Ethan Valle might be requiring some extra aid today. Now go." The kid stormed off, and Ethan turned toward his crew and the mercenaries.

"We gotta assume the kid will also got paid by the mercs to spy on us or tell them he met us. We should move out quickly, before the foreigners, whoever they are, take the notice that we didn't leave by ship."

Aiesha turned her heel to face those of the recruits who hadn't made their way onto the ship. "See! Nothing remotely immoral or underhanded.  Now let's get the hell out of here, the sooner we start, the sooner we finish. "
