for the record, here's some ships I'd like to see built and send by next mission batch

- Artillery ships. Just a single laser of variable power and a bunch of missiles with variable warheads (nukes, armor piercing,...) and such. Can be space-based or atmospheric (like large shuttles, like what boeing is working on). Note that high-power kinetics for large-scale destruction aren't needed, this is for mission support.
- A ship with sleeper pods, a hangar with shuttles and such, anomaly containment facilities and cargo space. Like the sword, but much smaller and sans weapons (though could get some, I guess) and without RnD. Basically, if it becomes difficult for pw to always think off multiple missions in the same solar system, this might allow him to send a team off someplace else.
- a few smaller ships focused on anti-ship combat. Maybe laser sniper ships or armored kinetic ships, or a sort of mix. Destroyer class, basically as escorts for the Sword (might not be really necessary, ask PW, but could be cool fluff-wise nonetheless).
- Defense satellites and nuke mines and transports to place them. To place some defenses at Q'Baja and the jumps points leading to Hep.
- Maybe a resource extraction and construction ship that can build additional space defenses.
- Recon and surveillance satellites and transports to place them. To place at further jump points.

We're building Q'Baja a Hammer, right?

I'm guessing Anton's Party Wagon is going to need to be mass-produced. I wonder if it can be sent on the current mission.

This is what the Gram's Scabbard class, the ship design Anton made up as the coverup for Steve's secret ship project, is intended to be used as. Nominally it's a cargo carrier, but it's built in such a way as to allow living space, hangars, and pretty much anything to be installed inside it.

This would probably be neat, but probably not as Sword escorts. Smaller ships to defend things like true artillery ships (like the Grazer) would be neat in general.

Yes, we're shipping them the necessary parts. Although I should really ask PW about that kinetic torpedo ship idea.

Has pyro gone AWOL again? I need to see if my rocket launcher will get prototyped before the missions start(no real big deal if the Kugelblitz doesn't but it would be nice)

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

He said to message him if you needed something and he wasn't responding in-thread, so I'd say do so.

I think he's set it up so that a majority decision by the other department heads can replace the decision of any other department head when necessary, specifically so that no one person would be holding things up.

Yes, but jump point defenses ought to be cheap and cost-effective.

I was thinking something larger with more range and firepower... and maybe not based on a cobbled-together design that was hastily made in time for the defense.  :P

Eh, they'd be in the same fleet as the sword, so they'd be escorts in general. And I'd honestly rather lose a couple artillery ships (who, if they're doing their job right, shouldn't really be in any position to receive return fire) than the sword, so they'd be protecting (escorting, if you will) that mostly.

I think I had asked him, and he explicitly said that wasn't the case.  He didn't want the other heads to be able to take over for another, and if it was absolutely necessary, Radio could do it since he's the general.

That doesn't mean we can't take over for him anyway.  It's essentially what we did before, and he's actually lower ranked now.

Also, about the ships, I had suggested before that we make our troop transports double as artillery ships.  They shouldn't be deploying without air (space?) superiority, and are mostly useless if they don't have their troops anyway.

I was specifically referring to ships that would join the Sword, not in general. And the sword can carry any troops we send it right now (though having a backup capable of ferrying people might be a very good idea in case things go seriously wrong sometime).

That said, giving dedicated troop transports bombardment capabilities is a usable idea, though that doesn't mean we can't use dedicated artillery (never know when you might need to destroy things in multiple places at once).

Hehe. Just because it seems like there wasn't anything done with it since it was shot down, doesn't mean there actually wasn't anything done with it. ;) Right now it can reach the Sword on its own if need be, and level a small county, also on its own. :P

Though its primary armament would probably not suffice for orbital strikes, and it carries no kinetic weapons. And the megaton missiles are not in terribly plentiful supply.

Honestly, cutting laser won't do it. I need a laser that can melt a battlesuit with pinpoint precision, or snipe LESHO rounds out of the air a few kilometers away (will need very good sensors). And much more missiles, of various kinds, than a couple megaton ones (overkill really isn't always what we want). Again, don't really think it needs high power kinetic weapons (would make it too big, unless it's fully spaceborn), it's nukes can fulfill any large-scale destruction needs.

It currently has a PEW, two FEL cannons, and the aforementioned rack of megaton fusion missiles. It should be able to do most of those things. Also the FELs are arranged like on the FEL cruiser, so it can shoot every which way with only a few blindspots.

So the wiki info on that thing is incorrect? When did you retrofit it? And it still needs those sensors. Also, not sure if PEW's are a good idea for it. One or two lasers (FEL if you  want that) seem better.

It was retrofitted somewhere along the way between it being shot down by the shockwave that took out the fleshhorror and now. Not in secret technically, but candidly. Parts removed from the Blackship during its refit into the Black Death, were reused to give the Party Wagon extra range and FTL ability. It sat there in the dock without weapons for a while, but then the great pausing of Heph activity happened, and Anton tacked some of his latest developments onto the thing as its armaments.

I'll get its information in the wiki updated as soon as it becomes relevant and/or officially known. So far as anyone in-universe besides Aresteve knows, it's been gathering dust in the docks ever since the fleshhorror incident.

For the transport ships for other missions:
Why not just use that blackhole ship I developed for spec-ops in tinker, just make it larger and give it an artifact containment facility, maybe some other things that would be useful in a mission like artillery? It's not like we will be making lots of them, they'll be something like spec-ops ships, so we afford to make them expensive. I can write a message to Hephaestus about them if you want.
