No, I don't think anyone did.
The Doctor's coming too for whatever reason.

That, Simus at least knows about. She's asking, but she really probably couldn't stop him.

@Pyro
I believe that Paris mentioned it in this very thread, shortly after you posted the new admin distribution system.  I remember that he gave a personalized list of things he could do for each of us, and reasons why we'd want to accept him.  IIRC, the general reaction was "cool!  We'd love to have you join, even for a little while; we're understaffed!"

So, we probably have 3/4 admins who are aware and accept it, although I think your original power distribution gave Radio/Miya the authority to approve or deny new people.

Okay, yeah. Looking back (sorry, I just skipped most of the thread from when I last posted until now so that I would actually do something and not wind up going 'eh, too much reading of arguments'), he did ask OOC-wise, and I think I kinda quasi-said okay. Something like a lackey who does odd jobs and helps whoever wants him, but with no real power beyond that given to him at the time, I think he himself proposed it? Still, it's only been in OOC except for conversations aboard the Sword.

Just putting it out now that I'm still not a big fan of Hephaestus being a quasi-OOC thing. I really wanted it to be something where characters would interact with one another with design ideas and such, not cloister themselves off in VR and everyone just debate stuff OOC. Such is the nature of the beast, though.

I'm actually in the same camp, and would like very much for Heph to actually have roleplaying.  Previously, I think one of the big blocks to that was that we only had two active people, both of whom were near-constantly focused on Tinker.  Hopefully adding two roleplay-heavy people will help it out a bit.

@Pyro, Syv Well, I was looking forward to roleplaying residing on Hephaestus even before you brought this up, so yeah, hopefully things would change a bit in that regard soon.  :)

That's... funny. I thought you were one of the ones kinda encouraging it. You certainly never seemed to play the roleplay aspect much, instead just going for walls of orders.

Roleplay between you and me is likely to happen, at any rate. Maurice and Simus at least have some history together. More than the others and her, at any rate (there's a bit with Anton, but not as much).

On Heph I didn't roleplay much mostly because I felt kinda lost, and nobody else really roleplayed either.

I roleplayed a lot when the game started (Saint ran around with the knight Marcius guy), but that kinda got shut down after I got instakilled at the start of both missions that I joined, and then got put on Heph right afterward.  They're just wasn't much opportunity. :\

I'm particularly looking forward to roleplay with Nik and Paris just because Saint is so... utterly different from them.  He's a sociopath, and they're both very empathic people who care about others.  That's a great opportunity, IMO.

I remember you were regretful you couldn't have Xan's powers, because you were gonna go to some emotional manipulation stuff.

@Pyro: Well, Miyamoto is in charge of who can come to Hephaestus, you said it yourself. So all I have to do is to take his permission IC-ly. It is his responsibility to inform you, if he wants to.
The OOC permission I got here was just a "Are you cool with me coming? Do you have any problems with that? Are there any special rules for coming?".
Besides, I have no IC idea of any of the administrative changes in Hephaestus, unless you issue a bulleting or paper or something, so I do not really know what's going on there and any administrative changes that happened. Flint knew that Simus was in charge and last time Flint asked Simus for permission she denied him, so IC-ly he just circumvented her by going to her superior.

And then if anything happens the fund could always gain tokens by selling the equipment of deceased teammates. It's not like many people make last wills in our 'line of work', right?..

We kinda do that already, see Jim's and Tryar's stuff.

Quote
Also, I just understood that if this is not the approach team fund leadership takes and actually on the opposite, I am probably willing to try and create a parallel 'Revolutionary Fund' with that aim in mind. At the very least to try and create a separatist 'non-Miyamoto's inconvenient pile of stuff'. :P

Psh, go for it! Have fun bean counting!

Wait, what?  You said Maurice was talking there, and not you, but I'm not sure if I should take that seriously.
"“If your brother becomes poor and cannot maintain himself with you, you shall support him as though he were a stranger and a sojourner, and he shall live with you. Take no interest from him or profit, but fear your God, that your brother may live beside you. You shall not lend him your money at interest, nor give him your food for profit."
-Leviticus 25:35-37-

Aka some people feel it is wrong to earn money by interest on loans (which isn't exactly laboring or working for it), while others feel it is a rightful payment for the risk involved in lending.

Quote
Well, sure, Two've been mentioned already.  First one is buying anything that's sold for 50%, and then reselling it to players at something like 75%; still a discount for them, still a gain for the TF.
There's also the renting idea, which gains money at no risk, at least most of the time.

I kinda feel just selling at the price it was bought is more in the spirit of the fund trying to help people out. Income can be generated by other means (from now, each death would increase it a little, if we keep doing it like this). Token loans I could also be amenable to, but we'd have to work out the rules to ensure everything is clear, and I'd kinda like to wait with major changes or new things until the missions have started and the respec is fully wrapped up. I also told this to Aos when he asked me on my opinion on the ARM organisation change (the ranks and such). Equipment loans... eh, sounds a bit too convoluted to me, but we could try it as an extension of the team fund selling (aka buy it for x tokens, or loan it for a mission for y).

Quote
Yeah, that can work to keep the TF running, if Radio continues with his minimum-spending policy.  It just means that newbies'll continue to be overshadowed by vets, and the rich will continue to have the majority of wealth because they're the competent, well-equipped ones capable of getting wealth in the first place.

Hey, remember I got free hand from pw, with but one law, 'keep it reasonable'. Since that's rather vague, I hope you can see why I'd err on the side of caution.

Besides, I've gotten a look at joker team's wishlist. It is... quite extensive. Believe me, we'll be needing those tokens yet. And don't you try to play them heartstrings, I was the one who proposed the newbie help thing with the fund to pw in the first place! This thing only exists since, like, a mission and a half, and I'm trying to find a healthy balance.

Not... really. I'm pretty sure he could push it if he wanted to, but I don't think I ever straight out said Flint was going to Hep, did I? Flint asked permission to leave the Sword, I said he's earned it and that Miya would be willing to write a letter of recommendation of sorts if needed to help his admission.

Quote
"Hmm, I see. Well, you've done a good job on he latest mission, as well as when we rescued that cultist FUBAR, so you've probably deserved some time off. If you need someone to do a good word for you to help your chances of being allowed to migrate over, you can always ask.

I have no objections to the described approach to using up the Team Fund, and would be happy to deposit my remaining tokens (after I leave the Sword) in it for the duration of my leave.

Guess I'll have to give up on my own bean counting if such a nice business plan came up. Unless a challenger appeared, of course...

Oh, I took that as permission and was going to use that to get me to Hephaestus. But it turns out that Flint is denied permission to board the shuttle because once again he misunderstood things, like that time he thought the computer was telling him he had enough fuel. He gets turned around and walks away, wondering why this happpened. So he just spends the rest of his time between jumps sitting alone, drinking his worries away. Or crystalling, I guess, if those things the AM gave him are any good.

But hey, it's no problem. I'll just take some time to finish up those projects I have for Joker team, for the defense of Hephaestus and for that anticapitalist weapon and just send them to Hephaestus/write them in the wiki to be executed by whoever wants to do that, since some of them are things that in my opinion should be done anyway and should had been done a long time ago. I'll get more or less the same things done and I can still go on missions. The only thing I'll miss is researching Nyarstifacts and doing actions to help lighten the workload of others. And going on diplomatic/retrieval/espionage/work crew acquisition missions for Hephaestus (but from some probing I did nobody is interested in doing those anyway so I wouldn't be missing much). Besides, it looks like the current mission would benefit more from Flint being there.

Actually, I think all of the heads have agreed OOC (some fairly enthusiastically). Really, you (or Radio) should toss them a message in-character, them say back that it's okay, and you're fine to attend.
