Ok, should I dismantle the "Fruit Press" now?

It may come in useful for "Disappearing" other noble claimants later, but as it stands, it violates town charter by not having an owner.

We dont need it.

Besides, it gets suspicious if they keep going in there.  A new way for every noble.

I think that forcing overseers to make problems "disappear" in their own way will add a bit of flavor.

Psycho happily laughs and says, "I'll create many luxurious pieces of crystal glass furniture to commemorate our new mayor's election!"

Very well, I will dismantle the smoosher, and remove the burrow and meeting area.

Ok, I have displayed the 2 willow shields constructed for our late baron's mandate at either corner of the main hall of the pickled plum, prominently displayed to incite conversation.

Spoiler: One Week Later (click to show/hide)

16th Felsite, Late Spring of the year 200
Ledger of the minister of agricultural affairs

It has now been one week since our beloved baron Asmel Usenvutok departed on his diplomatic mission to ArrowPrinces.
We expect that the Human trade caravan should be coming within the next few months, and we hope that he was able to arrive
before their departure for our fair city of NeverTaxed. I shall be sure to inquire as to his well being of the human merchants when they arrive.

In the mean time, after the fruit press has failed consistently to produce any fruit juice at all, it is with a heavy heart that I feel I must dismantle it, and recycle its components for more deserving purposes.

I wish that master Usenvutok would have given us more warning, or more information about the nature of his urgent missive, calling him to ArrowPrinces on such short notice, but he exercised diplomatic privilege, as was his want.

I am pleased to report that my protoge' operating the clothier shop has reached novice level proficiency, and officially claimed the right to call himself a clothier, even if he cannot yet claim ownership of his own store.  If he keeps working at this rate, he shall be a great asset to the fortress.

However, there are other problems to report.

It seems that there must be some form of restriction, or policy concerning the production of clutter in private residences.

However, the construction of houses, and the continued industrial output of the metalwork industry has depleted the wood supply faster than anticipated.  I have ordered clay collection jobs at my hobby kiln, and have even gotten my own hands filthy collecting clay from the clay seam found in the silverplum mine, but I somehow doubt that our residents will be very happy living in mud huts.

I refuse to cause our relations with our elven neighbors to deteriorate further, but if we cant secure fuel and wood soon, we shall have issues.

What's the functional difference between a "hobby kiln" and an actual clay industry?

Good question. Should I shut it down? Right now, no clay has actually been harvested. (Just a little literary embellishment.)

If you like, I could set a profile restriction on it so only my dwarf can use it.

I can't think of any way to separate it that would make it worthwhile to invest in an actual clay industry. One user for a workshop is different in the context of the rules but for practical application most industries are worked by one or two skilled dwarves anyway.

I believe that what Bro is getting at, is that it circumvents a rule, which was created for a reason.
I just want the kiln there to allow Wierd to dabble with clay collection (and more importantly, pottery is the only skill he is able to mood with, and it will keep him from going bonkers should he get moody.)

But that too is a circumvention of the !FUN!.

I wont fight if told to remove the kiln.

If the loss of your kiln ever drags you down emotionally, do remember that I just made some awesome cookies?

I don't think pottery is moodable.
