I think never acknowledging he's dead would give a justification for why they can't just send a new Baron.

As a method of execution I'm a big fan of the wooden spike on repeat but smooshing is always effective.

We could send a very nasty letter to the king, saying that our baron has gone on "Important business" in ArrowPrinces, and if his majesty is worried about him, to please send correspondence there, as he will be using the pseudonym [real name of vampire] on his diplomatic mission. Surely the official officers of ArrowPrinces could give information about his whereabouts.

While wierd's basement might make a good place, it is pathable by trade liasons, and trade liasons have dwarven psychic powers.

This means that if the dwarf is alive, they will path there. If he is unpathable, the liason will leave angry.
If he is dead, but "missing", the liason will talk with the next highest position.

He is not yet dead.  The smoosher is almost ready though.

If there is an alternative means of death, I am happy to oblige.  It's possible to combine the bridge, the spike trap, and the ubliette all in one.

What I can do, is raise the smoosher bridge in the derelict house, remove the floor, then channel down into the basement below. Then install spike traps all over in the drop-zone. Re-deploy the bridge, then burrow the baron into the room. Lock the door, raise the bridge. This will launch him in a random direction, making him stunned (for sure!) when he lands, and thus activating the spike trap. Lower the bridge again, and it is unpathable.

I just like the classical imagery of staking a vampire. It sort of sucks that any kind of getting nasty with the elves is going to happen without their diplomat.

If we moosh him, the game will "know" he is dead, but because no body is found, he will go "Missing".  Liasons and diplomats will communicate with the next highest noble. Since the baron is ALSO the mayor, there will be a new election.

In other news, we are officially a "City" now, according to the game.

Fantastic, the ramifications of being a "city" should be explored.

The lever for the smoosher is nearly ready.

I can deconstruct the current system if there are concerns about smooshing. I personally think smooshing will result in the best possible "We dont know where he is!" outcome.

Before doing the nefarious deed, I invite discussion.

(aside, the baron has mandated the creation of 2 shields. Should I bother ordering their creation?)

Smooshing works fine. Make the shields out of wood to mock him.

I decided to look into the accusations leveled in the current baron's murder spree.

In the case of the first murder, the whole damned village saw the body, but nobody saw the deed done.
In the second murder, LordLemonpie witnessed the vile act, and accuses the baron.
In the third murder, the baron pre-emptively accuses PK of doing the deed.

Should I convict the baron of all 3 murders, or do it AFTER he has his little accident?

I have authorised the creation of 2 wooden shields. We can sell them to the humans in a few months to get rid of them.

Still curious about convicting the baron before smooshing, or after.

After, unless you're trying to convict him as a final act of justice.  Make him face his crimes, in a faux trial.

You know.. After sounds good.

Conviction in absentium, since he failed to make appearance to defend himself in court. I like it,

Does convicting someone after they're dead cause a negative thought?
