Decide the Fate of this Dwarf!
« on: November 17, 2014, 09:07:23 pm »

Alright well I have a bit of a problem.... One of my military Dwarfs who took out our first Forgotten Beast has decided to go on several tantrums and he has killed two of our valuable dwarfs (One was a legendary +2 Jeweler and the other was an Axe dwarf squad captain):

Both of them were with headsplosions:

Well it comes down to this, I feel bad killing him outright but then again he must pay right?

What do you think?

With full Masterwork gear.

he must repent! to prove what he did was just and fair!

put him in a maze with a wooden training sword and a Minotaur.

if he survives he gets a golden cage

Do you not have a jail system up? Hire a sheriff, build a restraint and send her to the shackles for a year or two...

Or if you want to do some !!SCIENCE!! you can make her sheriff and have her arrest herself, just to see what happens

Strip him of his weapons and armor and send him to live in the wild. Assign a kill value to the lives he's taken, if one +2 jeweler is worth 7 lives and a skilled axe dwarf is worth 10 he must kill in the name of the fortress seventeen times.  If Armok looks favorably on him and he returns victorious let him be absolved, if he fails forbid his body from being touched on penalty of death then engrave a slab and place it by where he lies in the field. Let passersby know that in the eyes of the mountain he is not forgiven and even in death he will never be allowed to return.

Give him a proper dwarven funeral- suit him up in steel, and drop him into the caverns, stationing him in the middle of it, then getting rid of that order. One year, or season, for each murder. If he survives that, keep him in a cage for just as long as he survived in the caverns. Then, strip him of his steel, place him in clothes made from plant fibres the elves bring, with wooden spear and shield. Let him walk and live like an elf for his crimes, as death is too good for him.

Give him a proper dwarven funeral...
False advertising. Where's the magma?

He needs to throw a number of his kills into magma and survive the resulting ‼magma mist‼.

Indeed into the depths armed to the teeth. It seems fitting. He will serve the fortress till the end as an outcast ranger. It might be a combination of some of the others though too.

I kind of imagine like this was a dwarven council held in his judgment.... Let it be so.

I think this is a great idea.

I think I will use something like that. Say he hast to kill 20 beasts before he can return. The only difference is that he will be in the caverns.

No mercy.  Strip the murderous scum naked. Then drop him into a pit filled with badgers and helmet snakes.  Slow death by necrosis and infection.

No mercy. The military dwarves must be exemplary, and throwing a tantrum themselves is a shame. Services to the fortress are nothing in the light of the murder of a fellow dwarf ! The laws must apply to all, and the soldiers must be the first to abide. Give the hammerer a steel hammer and let justice be done.

I say make use of him. Do the cruel, yet practical, thing, and send him as an explorer of the depths.
