@Badger Storm: Don't lock the garbage dump! It's hard enough to get the dorfs to take the garbage out without blocking it most of the time. An unlocked door might help, however, and if you want to make extra sure only the trash men (mostly everyone, I think) sees the trash (as well as the butcher, spinner, tanner, and bone carver), you could create a screening wall inside.
