Game Dev Tycoon RP IC [5/999][1985, Q1]
« on: November 16, 2014, 02:35:04 pm »

You may only release ONE game in your first Season. You may only release ONE game in your second Season IF you advertised said game in the first season.

There are NO exact dates, because the only two guarantees are that a Season is a period of 3 months and that the "first come, first serve" posting order allows unlimited posts, so we need to assume that all posts on a given real day took place before the end of the last month in a Season, And please remember, stick to the technology of the time!

Now, Orange Otter Studios and Deitarius Wall Development get 5,500,000 to release consoles! ((you have to do this, but can release the console and game in first season))

Q1 (Winter) 1985

It is the year 1985. New Coke is terrible, Reagan is the President, and the video game industry is 20 years old!

Home computing is finally a reality, and PCs and Arcade cabinets are highly successful gaming platforms.

On top of all this is Goliath Games, who have just recently released a new console...

Presenting the GameTron!

Featuring astounding 8-bit graphics, two controller ports, a bundled 4-directional d-pad controller and a ROM cartridge game loading system, the GameTron is the future of the video games! Now available in stores!

Buyers of the GameTron have discovered a pleasant surprise upon opening the console's packaging... It comes with a free Demo Cartridge! The Demo Cartridge has a free trivia game on it to keep kids busy until more games arrive for the platform.

But rumors are about that two competing consoles are on their way... Perhaps Goliath is about to meet its David?

Upcoming Games

After announcing it last fall and advertising the game heavily this winter, Goliath Games is preparing to release a new game on the GameTron in the spring, using an IP of a Goliath subsidiary called Gadgeteer Games...

Buddy Bear's Toyland
Genre: Action
Play Style: 2D Platformer
Topic: Toys
Audience: Everyone
Price: $50
Languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Japanese
Releasing to: North America, United Kingdom, Europe, Japan
Release Date: Spring 1985
Buddy Bear's Toyland is the story of Buddy Bear, who must fight through waves of evil homework goblins to rescue the Pretty Princess Fashion Doll from the clutches of the evil Homework Goblin King!

The game is known as Kumocha no Bōken in Japan. The characters Buddy Bear, Pretty Princess Fashion Doll and the Homework Goblin King have been renamed to "Kumocha", "Ningyō Hime" and "Goburin-ō" respectively.

Features
*Over 16 power ups, from foam dart gatlings and water blasters to invisibility blankets and invincibility cookies!
*8 worlds with four levels each!
*A hidden bonus world! Can you find out how to access it?
*A second port on the top of the cartridge for a future expansion!
*Multiplayer mode! Buddy Bear and the Pretty Princess Fashion Doll race to the end of the stage!
*A new feature currently unique to gaming... Achievements!

The game will be available at Toys Galore retail outlets in the western world, and at Joi Paresu stores in Japan. Both store chains will be giving away Buddy Bear stuffed toys with every copy of the game while supplies last!

In addition, Goliath Games has announced an even newer game for PC, also taken from a Gadgeteer Games IP, scheduled for release this summer!

Aquatopia
Genre: Simulation/Strategy
Play Style: Infrastructure Builder
Topic: Sci-Fi
Audience: Everyone
Price: $40
Languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Japanese
Releasing to: North America, United Kingdom, Europe, Japan
Release Date: Summer 1985
It is the year 2050. Mankind is running low on land thanks to increasing urbanization and agriculture combined with the needs to sustain the environment. So we turn to the sea...

In Aquatopia, you are in charge of the underfunded Canadian Oceanic Colonization project (or the Mexican equivalent in the spanish translations). Your job is to colonize an area of the sea floor, dealing with food, desalinated water, air, electricity, money, public support and government support, all while building up the colony.

The goal is to get the highest peak amount of cash over your entire game, which is outputted as your high score when you inevitably fail; the game is very much a survival run. The game will have a range of difficulty settings, but high score tables are separate for each run. Achievements will be included in this game as well, with a full 50 different ones to unlock!

Features
*Mine resources for extra cash!
*Unlock advanced buildings like geothermal power plants, submarine hotels and underwater superhighways!
*Random events! Find a sunken ship? Make it a tourist attraction for continuous cash flow, sell it to a museum for a modest amount of money and an increase in public support, or sell the salvaged artifacts on the black market for big bucks at the cost of public support! And watch out for undersea volcanos, landslides and earthquakes! You may even find a lost underwater city...

More details on Aquatopia will follow soon.

1985 Q1
Deitarius
5,500,000

Consoles:  The Shieldwall Entertainment System is released.

Name: SES

16-bit: +2 ( TurboGrafx)
Sound: +1
Price: 300 (250 per unit for me.)

Cost: 5,000,000

Demo Game: Simple WW1 Platformer.

Looking like a normal, boxy console, the SES doesn't look impressive, but under the hood, it has 16-bit graphics, improved RAM, and much better sound quality then the standard.

Games: Hero's Hold
Genre: Action
Play Style: 2D Action
Topic: WW2
Audience: Everyone
Price: $40
Languages: English, French
Releasing: North America
Release Date: Spring 1985

Features
*Fight through the Western Front of World War 2, from Africa and Normandy to Berlin.
*Use all sorts of weapons, from combat knives to Bazookas!
*In a feature unique to early gaming, you can bring friendly soldiers with you, commanding them as allied NPCs.

How's that look?
