Take box. Equip box.
The three-dimensional nature of the box strangely does not impede you wearing it. However, the size of the box does. It's pretty roomy and seems like it'd provide some torso protection, but you can hardly move and it's almost impossible to use your hands.
Walk around in circles till you heal up.
It would seem that this meaningless activity does not allow you to heal. However, the putting on of the box does.
((I said in, ya dingus!))
Move the box off of the guard and loot his body, whether alive or not.
* Tawarochir facepalms
The body contains a
hat, a
level 1 ID card, and an
almost disturbingly thin Kevlar undershirt.

You have also noticed the fact that putting on the box makes you notably less Stealthy and entirely negates the benefit of your Stealth Suit, which you had not noticed before.
[A note about health restoration: Health restores only when you do something meaningful. Meaningful things include interacting with objects, not being injured in a combat turn, and moving in possibly dangerous ways, such as near enemies or by climbing. Resting does
not help unless you're resting somewhere that is [Comfortable], and because comfortable stuff gets uncomfortable after a while, you can only use each [Comfortable] item once.)
