Goldfish infection/injury
« on: November 14, 2014, 03:07:03 pm »

I have a goldfish (just a common goldfish, no special breed) that has recently developed a condition that I can't find described online. It has a transparent reddish-yellow sac, about the size of a pea, on its right side. For an idea, it looks like the sacs of a bubble-eyed goldfish. I've seen and compared pictures of goldfish with ulcers and tumors, but none of them look like the one on my fish. Does anybody have a clue what this might be or how to treat it? He's been behaving totally normally and has no problems swimming or eating, but this growth is very worrying. I noticed it several days after a routine cleaning.

Might be a parasite. Or not. Take a picture. Go to your local pet store. Show them. They'll probably be able to tell you what it is and direct you to an appropriate water treatment kit.
