No railroad (which is totes weird- how can he have railroads almost everywhere except the capital? But seeing as how that's what saved him, I'll chalk it up to devilish foresight.)

Which bring me to the realisations that the version of the rules Haspen sent me don't include anything about what happens when a capital is taken. We discussed ways to have part of the country surrender, and part of the country continue fighting with a new province becoming the capital, but it's not in the rules. Crap.

Edit: Okay, I took my decision. When a Capital Province is occupied, every province got a 50% chance to surrender to the occupier and the capital is moved to one of the remaining province (if any). Armies on surrendering provinces are dismissed. Fleets each have a 50% chance to surrender (aka, disappear) too. This is mostly because I do not want an instant win for the first one to take Paris.

Indeed, Russia is pretty much death. Scandinavian capital spawns unit, and then they invade yours.

Should be a lesson for people. Never leave your capital undefended

Not entirely: About half of Russian provinces will defect, but then Russia will have to take 12 and hope to re-take all HQs.

Ah yes. This is a class A clusterf-k and I'm proud I (accidentally) made it happen. (in retrospect there was a ~1/6 chance this would happen, I should have been better prepared)
