Yeah, a1s: you cannot go 2 deep inside enemy territory if there is a fight on the first province, because A) You'd need conditional orders, and I don't want those. B) It would make wars too short.
I figured as much (but thanks for clarifying). I'm however more concerned with maneuver warfare (or railroad-pulting around, as Haspen put it) It's entirely ahistorical for the age (WWI era.)

Well, look at Haspen's game. It mostly degenerate into bloody assault on fortified position, that fails more often than not. Totally accurate for the time period.

In this case, railroads mostly mean you can bring man faster to the meatgrinder.

Nonsense. There are four ways (attacker-defender pairs) for that to happen on the board right now (I'm probably missing more). I don't know about Haspen's game, but here France and Albion are the only ones not railroaded up to the nines.

Also, playergamer, I'm sure you're aware of this, but just in case you're not: it's your turn.

Not sure what's your point is to be honest. Just watch Haspen's game: at least a dozen armies are dying each turn to take one or two provinces. Sure, it's looking open now, but that's because y'all decided for small army size and haven't had time to spread your troops around yet.

w'all decided on adequate armies, which was the second biggest army size available. And 2 of us actually went for "numerous". Armies are just stuck in capitals because you put them there. More to the point, I don't think people would open their borders like that, if they knew (Scandis might not have the manpower to man their borders properly, but I'm sure the Ottomans didn't plan on giving away all of Asiatic Turkey, which is going to be a bitch to reconquer, what with the Bosporus Marmara there).

edit: Anyways, it sounds like I'm impassioned about the issue, but I'm mostly just glad we found out now, before people could whine about missed opportunities.

Well, yeah, I think it was a mistake to force armies in the capital at start, we might change that later on.

Well, at max, you can start with nine armies.  Maybe one required in the capital and no more than three in any non-capital province at start?

Or just no restriction. If you want to put all your armies on one border, you expose yourself to attacks from the other side.

a1s, dude! I didn't change my orders because I didn't get your message. You don't have to INVADE me because of a miscommunication. How about we make a new deal?

Well, my guess is that he has to invade you because you let yourself totally open to an invasion. He'd be dumb not to use the opportunity. Out of curiosity, what was the deal?

a1s: Do you mean RPs and stuff? No, we should add that later on. You can demand completed techs and provinces though.

He's actually invading me because he thinks I'm trying to mass an army on his borders.
