Although i do not understand where exactly i "was screaming" at players or have been overly insulting by stating the motivations why i do not reveal certain things i certainly do understand that the lack of micromanagement (aka the numbercrunching people seem to demand so badly) is putting some of you off. I'm sorry if it is that way, i have already put forward my view of things repeatedly. If you feel that the game is not transparent enough or needs to be more complicated or a more number-centric/rule-heavy/whateveryoumightcallit set of mechanics, i really suggest you open your own game because i can't and do not want to deliver such.

but quite seriously kj where was i screaming at people?

Nerjin you are confusing something here.

Please enlighten me.

Quote from: The Same Post
To stay with your metapher:
Im not playing poker with you but give you the rules for go fish, but more along the lines of this being dungeons and dragons and while you might know the rules for the game if you want, they are not interesting for the procedure of it.

This is also wrong. In fact it is more wrong. But you give an example so I'll explain that here in a second.

Quote from: The Same Post
I don't know how you play such games but when i played PnP the Gm didn't go: "now you face a level 20 Dragon with 10 million HP, he kills you if he rolls 10 fives, and manages to break your armor on a 4+. His flamebreath does 5d6 damage!" he went " You found a Dragon in his cave", sure one or two of us might have read the rulebook closely enough to know that a dragon means evil shit but the exact stats of one are irrelevant to our actions.

You are using a strawman here. We're not asking to know every minute detail. We are asking to know what our classes Base Attack Bonus is as well as what our hit-die are. You then tell use that we use D6's for both. Okay. Fair enough, we suppose, until you mention that EVERYTHING uses this system [about four hours into our adventure]. Okay... So a Dragon uses D6's too? Awesome! We all mob the fucker. "By the way Dragon's use D10's and I'm not letting you change that action."

You TOLD us the wrong information and are punishing us for it.

Quote from: The Same Post
Similiarly you do not complain in Call of Duty or In Mass Effect when the exact damage, health, armor and fifty other mechanics going on aren't known to you. Why? Because they are not relevant to your actions in the game.

No, we don't complain in those games because the penalty for not knowing isn't severe. In one of those games if we don't understand a mechanic we get spanked and sent into a corner for a quarter of a minute. In this game it puts us in an unavoidable downward spiral that we cannot recover from properly because now we are not only weakened but we're struggling within a new situation. This is the point in most games were you say "Okay, now I've learned a little more. I'm going to start over to use my knowledge." but here that's not a possibility.

Quote from: The Same
I have earlier only given out the mechanics for battles because people wanted to know and to show that i don't sit here at home going "Herpaderp lets kill all of Nerjins Gobbos because i feel like it." but that there is a system behind the things going on.

Which was a step in the right direction. But further actions have shown you dont' really care. Now I've gotta go to work. But I'm also dropping out of this game due to the botched up attitude you have towards your players.s

You know, with a wait list this long you could just kick out the players that complain and have a smother and less argument-derailed game. Just saying.

That leads down a rather dark and dreary path, as it fosters resentment that linger between games...knowing a GM might boot you because you complained doesn't make people really want to play the games...

Then again, guys, seriously, Ghaz is taking the time out of his day to do this, and more importantly:

It's a fucking game. You lost, big whoop. There's a shitton of other forum games anyway; we get way too competitive in these things and it's fuckin' ridiculous.

Or did you lot forget our motto?

Losing is Fun, guys. Remember that.

There's a reason why there aren't any hardcore forum games.

Armok you are right that i could do with less argument, but point is these people raised valid arguments, and i see no point punishing them for arguing in a civilized manner. The problem is that you want half way in explaining the game mechanics. So, the entirety of the mechanics were not revealed, but enough of them were that it seemed complete. In hindsight, perhaps a series of examples, without explaining any of the rules, would have been better.

Yeah, the fact that kobolds usually die at around age 10-12 probably won't help... :).

Poking back in: The problem is also that you explained the rules, but you explained some of them incorrectly. For example, you said that everything in the game uses a D6 for combat, and then, when you reveal after Kevak loses everything to heroes that the heroes use D10s, you refuse to retcon what happened, despite it being your mistake.

Ghaz, if I may poke my useless opinion in, don't piss off the players. Without the players there is no game, and with arguments  we go down dark GWG path where everyone starts nuking threads to ash and my awful RtDs die.

Eh... I doubt anyone'll nuke his threads after this. It wasn't THAT bad and I did enjoy the premise. The premise was VERY good and I would definitely join a second game of this IF the mechanics were properly explained. That said I will be a little wary of future games from this DM.

I think tempers got a little hot though so I'll just go ahead and bow out again.
