Nerjin you are confusing something here.
Please enlighten me.
To stay with your metapher:
Im not playing poker with you but give you the rules for go fish, but more along the lines of this being dungeons and dragons and while you might know the rules for the game if you want, they are not interesting for the procedure of it.
This is also wrong. In fact it is more wrong. But you give an example so I'll explain that here in a second.
I don't know how you play such games but when i played PnP the Gm didn't go: "now you face a level 20 Dragon with 10 million HP, he kills you if he rolls 10 fives, and manages to break your armor on a 4+. His flamebreath does 5d6 damage!" he went " You found a Dragon in his cave", sure one or two of us might have read the rulebook closely enough to know that a dragon means evil shit but the exact stats of one are irrelevant to our actions.
You are using a strawman here. We're not asking to know every minute detail. We are asking to know what our classes Base Attack Bonus is as well as what our hit-die are. You then tell use that we use D6's for both. Okay. Fair enough, we suppose, until you mention that EVERYTHING uses this system [about four hours into our adventure]. Okay... So a Dragon uses D6's too? Awesome! We all mob the fucker. "By the way Dragon's use D10's and I'm not letting you change that action."
You TOLD us the wrong information and are punishing us for it.
Similiarly you do not complain in Call of Duty or In Mass Effect when the exact damage, health, armor and fifty other mechanics going on aren't known to you. Why? Because they are not relevant to your actions in the game.
No, we don't complain in those games because the penalty for not knowing isn't severe. In one of those games if we don't understand a mechanic we get spanked and sent into a corner for a quarter of a minute. In this game it puts us in an unavoidable downward spiral that we cannot recover from properly because now we are not only weakened but we're struggling within a new situation. This is the point in most games were you say "Okay, now I've learned a little more. I'm going to start over to use my knowledge." but here that's not a possibility.
I have earlier only given out the mechanics for battles because people wanted to know and to show that i don't sit here at home going "Herpaderp lets kill all of Nerjins Gobbos because i feel like it." but that there is a system behind the things going on.
Which was a step in the right direction. But further actions have shown you dont' really care. Now I've gotta go to work. But I'm also dropping out of this game due to the botched up attitude you have towards your players.s
