Dwarf Fortress Talk #22: Feedback
« on: November 13, 2014, 04:40:09 pm »

The twenty-second one has been posted.

Any comments about the format, content, quality, etc. of the call are welcome.  We were out of practice so this one is somewhat slapdash in various respects, but we wanted to talk about the new dev page and deal with the question backlog.  Forum questions relating to the new dev stuff probably work best over in the Future of the Fortress thread.  New DF Talk questions are also needed now.

We don't currently have arrangements for a transcript, so that'll need to be worked out in some way over the course of the thread, as with the previous episode.

Transcript here!

I've started an editable Google Docs page http://goo.gl/fUYHm2. We should be able to crowdsource a transcript within a few days.

Yay, it had been so long since I could listen to those, they made my days way more fun two years ago, when on a very boring job (basically waiting for an order to come over 70% of the time).

mallocks did most of them, but I think the last two before this were handled differently due to busy-ness and so on.

I love to hear that you are not going to do another super long release again... and I just want to say that I have faith in you and believe that you can stick to your plans this time around. The idea of being able to play mini games within Dwarf Fortress got me really excited :p

I was thinking more along the lines of this legendary champion, all clad in dented and dinged up steel plate, his blood-drenched axe slung over his back, a notch in the handle for every enemy that saw the swing of that blade as the last sight they ever saw, a battered shield strapped over his arm... and a fluffy, pink stuffed hippo hidden discretely in his breastplate.

Well, just transcribed 15 or 20 minutes' worth of the recording, and others are energetically tearing away at it.
PT_Fort's estimate of a few days seems a little slow to me.

What is this new age of cooperation and harmony we are living in? I thought the internet was supposed to be strife and misery. At any rate, nice to hear another DF Talk after so long an absence.

Brilliant! Missed these way too much. It's good to hear the Adams brothers rattling on again =D

Just put in some work on the transcription and it looks like it's almost done already, which is probably some sorta record. Whoever wrote the end of the doc, you're brilliant.

EDIT: Alright, seems to be just 14 questions left to fill in on the transcript, and then probably some editing. I'm going to find my bed before I forget what it looks like.

Did some more, and the basic transcription looks to be done, but it would be worthwhile for some people to listen to the talk while reading the transcript to make sure that the transcript is exhaustive and correct.
