Welcome to B12 Chess Tournament: Test U Game, the Bay12 Cheese tournament that is currently underway.

Hello, I'm here to propose a B12 chess tournament.  The premise is simple enough:  each player plays every other player, round robin style.  Then the players with the best streaks will play one another in the 'playoffs'.  Unless we get more than 16 or so players, then we'll have to play with brackets, perhaps best out of three games.  *So, best out of three, double elimination brackets.*

As of this post, we will most likely play on lichess.  While the site doesnt require sign-ups to play, I'm asking that you both sign up for a free account  (or use a current account) and only use that one account for the tournament.  Also tell us it.  If you'd prefer, pm me the account name and Ill post it here to protect your anonymity; but all games will be played using said account.  All games will be linked here after for accuracy.

Im still open to ideas, feel free to pm or drop a post in thread.

The Rules

1.) The moderator(s) reserve the final say in all cases.
2.) You will have 3 days to complete your game(s).  Extensions can be given for adequate reasons.
3.) You must use a single valid lichess account for the tournament.
4.) You must list your lichess account name, even if you play anonymously.
5.) You must play all your games.  You are not allowed to let others 'stand in' or advise you
6.) You cannot use the help of any third party program while playing.
7.) All completed games will be posted here.  This of course implies others can analyse your games.
8.) If you have a problem with the setup, please send a pm to a thread moderator.
9.) You are responsible for coordinating with your opponent to find the time to play.  We all have different lives, but unfortunately we to keep the tournament moving.
10.) Players can choose amongst themselves who will play as what color, and then will swap colors the second game.  Sudden death or other indecision will be decided randomly by a moderator.
*11.) All games will use lichess 'standard' timed settings.  Namely 5 minutes with 8 second intervals (5 minutes base time with 8 added seconds per turn)

*So, last night I came to the realization that I may have posted this in the wrong sub-forum :\  So, to correct, we’ll start today, and run until Tuesday.  That’s the weekend and some.*

In the absence of a ranking system I used 16 16sided dice, twice.  I assign dice on a first come first rolled basis, went down the list, and assigned each player a slot in the bracket based on the number rolled.  I did so twice, and then assigned the remaining slots based on first come basis.

I was thinking 2 games per, with standard time.  If somebody has clearly left the game than they'd forfeit.  *And most likely double elimination for the bracketed portion, be it the semi-finals or the whole thing*.  So we will have a 3rd place
