One Wing?

So i modded a new caste with a 1% chance of a baby being born as it. I called it the Hero caste. I gave it [NOFEAR] and the ability to learn 10 times faster. I also gave it wings. i then figured out how to make the wings have actual feathers and layers of tissues, ect. Then, after testing it, i realized it could fly with only one wing. so i tested it with giant crows and drone ant men. Same thing. So i tried it in DF2012. Same thing. How do i get them to need TWO wings?

If the creature has a [FLIER] tag, it can fly. As SS said. there's currently no way to make wings necessary for flight.

But if both wings are cut off (in an arc) they cannot fly anymore.

Not entirely true, according to the wiki:

If a BP has the [FLIER] tag it enables the [FLIER] tag in the creature raws to be disabled once the BP with the tag gets damaged. If there is no [FLIER] tag on any BP the creature can fly no matter what.

/edit: and in answer to OPs question: yeah, make 2WINGS into one BP. Not a pretty solution but the only reasonable (aside from convoluted DFhack scripts and/or syndromes).

Hardly. It's been that way when I was still working on the Zelda mod, and I started with that in 2010. I'm pretty sure that it's been that way even before.

OW, Im going to guess that you were thinking of how you could add a flier without a flying BP and they would fly no matter what.
