Yeah, looked like he looted a Stahlhelm from a museum or something. Can someone identify the battaillon's blazon? Also, where are those trenches?

The trenches are a part of Ukrainian defence along the front line, the photos originally appeared in the Ukrainian media.

Concerning the trooper with the SS helmet, take it with a grain of salt: I can't find the original source of the picture, and Google Image Search shows it is only reposted on VK and other social networks. Maybe it's fake, but I'm not sure.

Bonus: a pretty old video, but I haven't seen it anywhere - a T-34 of Novorossiyan forces with self-made armour platings and an awful paint job, originally taken from a WW2 memorial.

Well, fake or not, it doesn't matter much. The guy is obviously posing with whatever he found laying around. He's carrying a sword for fuck's sake!

Guy in SS helmet has new Aidar battalion insignia. Not that it means anything

Looks at the photo with dug in APC... So we changed tactical markings. Blue stripes instead of white and a white circle on the turret. Interesting.

War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.

That guy with the sword and the helmet reminds me of MMO players for some reason.

LARP maybe?

But yeah, it's pretty clear that he got any old stuff from the museum. Still though, a sword, wut.

Should be noted, for those who don't know, that Jack churchill fought WWII with his sword.
Also, he was the only british to have killed a german soldier by longbow in the war.

Said sword being a claymore. I also believe that he was playing bagpipes while storming the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. He earned the nickname of 'Mad' for a reason...

according to the wikipedia article, he played bagpipes while storming the beaches of norway. He was in yugoslavia in '44, playing bagpipes while being shelled by mortars and grenades.

In short, if it was an important battle and it was World War 2, he played bagpipes there.

He also apparently said "Bloody Yanks, without them we could have made this war last another ten years!".

Was he also known for saying "blood for the blood god?"
