Port Anchorage, Northern Ridge, Askarian | 233d/3008AD | Von Hapsburg System

Askarian Shores
Snow (Low visibility. Actions toward distant objects incur a small penalty based on distance)
Freezing Wind (-1 to all actions when exposed)

"I don't even think that's that bad. I can't tell you where I would like to take you, 'casue if I slipped it wouldn't be top secret, would it?"

"Ugh, you really don't know what you are dealing with. If word gets out... you're goners. My masters... creators, whatever, they can't find out. They have a hidden base with some energy source in the core... nobody is capable of matching what they've done in a few centuries. They've converted a small dwarf planet's worth of mass into drones."

...

Habitat Ship Gamma, Askarian Orbit | 233d/3008AD | Von Hapsburg System

Urban Station
City Manners (-1 to first impressions)

"Your there! Stop this chaos!"

Spore attack the crazy women!
YAAAAAAAAAAAH. ATTACK THE TALKING MONSTER TREE.

Initiative
[3] Slvia
[3] Nidoma
[4] Tree

(2) vs [6]: The tree monster slams one of its great boughs along the ground

Slvia, [6] vs (5): You emit spores, which very, very slowly begin to do their work.

Nidoma, [2] vs (3): You swing at the tree's limb after it misses you, cutting a few gashes in the bark. You start to realize, though, that chopping down trees in combat is rather hard. Even a rather thin tree takes a while to chop down without a chainsaw, and your tiny hand saws won't cut it (hehe) for a quick kill. Instead, you will have to burn the tree down through attrition.

As you fight, a floating golden sphere exits through the door of the workshop. As soon as it appears, you start feeling dizzier.
-1 to next initiative roll

The saplings just generally run at Nidoma, not doing very much other than trying to trip her. And failing.

...

The Jolly Roger, Franz| 238d/3008AD | Von Hapsburg System

Zero Gravity
All items have no weight penalty.

Zero-G Flood
Laser weapons suffer a -2 penalty
All weapons have -1 accuracy

"F*** off!"

Throw the hammer at the hatch (it's still shown in my inventory).

Well, I'm kinda new with these computers, but it's worth a shot.

Try to commandeer the turrets and fire upon the Space Pirates. Try to contact Steve and see if he can help me with the hacking.

[4] The hammer flies through the hatch unobstructed. You hear a clang, indicating that the hammer has in fact hit something, and also that you are no longer in a vacuum.

[5-1] The computer's controls seem fairly intuitive. Click on target, turret attacks. This particular computer only governs a single bank of guns, but they seem to be doing some damage on the tactical displays. You also got the "COMPUTER OVERHEAT" warning to start flashing.

[1] You contact Steve and see if he is of any help.

Steve: Did you seriously think I'd be good at hacking because I'm a robot? My system is built off human brain architecture. I don't think in math and code like you seem to believe.
Charles: I know G++ and Volt, I might be able to write a program to do it... eventually.

((Erm, GenTek is flat out dead lorewise. Technically this isn't the home setting or anything, buuuut lorewise, they're dead. The vast majority of employees were slaughtered, the senior staff and executives were eaten alive, and the few lower ranking members that survived were experimented on by the KX9 until they died. The KX9 are quite brutal to those they perceive as enemies.))

((The keyword is majority. :P

It's practically impossible to fully annihilate a large entity that spans multiple star systems due to lightlag, the general slowness of spacecraft, and lack of on-demand teleportation in the setting. Plus it's relatively easy to slip into a crowd on some colony, burn your ID's and passports and the like (or sell them to the black market), and live among farmers in some place where they don't keep track of ID's and immigrants.

Basically, what I'm saying is that if the KX9 are to maintain any semblance of balance, they could not have completely wiped every single asset GenTek had, because it was spread far across multiple star systems and KX9 assets didn't grow to huge proportions until centuries later. Plenty of time to hide.

Of course the corporation is definitely gone as an entity. But there's always the possibility of some random researcher fleeing with data on a thumbchip or something else that's hard to track, then forging a different name for himself and using the data to his advantage. It would be less of a GenTek revival and more of a relatively unrelated group of researchers headed by someone with a copy of GenTek research, but Orion's crazy. Who knows.))

((Weeeell, since KX9 were used extensively as guards for GenTek facilities, bodyguards for GenTek high value employees, cheap labor, the majority of the corporation's military force, and in some cases assistants, they had access to pretty much everything GenTek at the time of the revolt. They were docile for the most part due to a number of hardcoded personality traits in some strains providing a regulator and the lack of the more aggressive strains having anything to trigger them outside of isolated cases. The revolt was triggered by several heavily abused and unstable KX9 reconnecting to the Groupmind after having been in a medically induced coma for years when the computer monitoring them shorted out. It quickly turned into a fullblown cascade event, the first one actually. And since the KX9 knew the vast majority of GenTek employees and had access to effectively every facility.. It was a quick and brutal slaughter.))

Yet he uses computer parts, and gets memory wiped by being shot out of a cannon.
I might need to get one of those G-spot hacking programs, then I wouldn't have to worry anymore.

Then go to the tube, I got a cooling bank to destroy.

((Hm, I still think with the hint before that Orion had GenTek implants it would make sense to mention GenTek somehow, but since it doesn't look like Sabre read the post yet I can just remove the comment.))

((GenTek based implants aren't particularly rare, KX9 took over production and development post revolt. Likely several other species GenTek made got their hands on some blueprints as well.))
