We should hold off on trying to capture a drone until we have someone with a respectable strength score to use it. That 8 DEF is a lot to overcome.

Unless someone blasts it to like, 1 hp or something. Then all bets are off.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but loosely speaking, "nothing matters" if it's the last alien, right? I mean, there's no way for it to just gib you where you stand, so it doesn't matter if the entire squad ends up bleeding out around the damned thing provided you successfully down it before anyone's three turns are up, yes?

Granted, this relies on the assumption that these drones are indeed the last of them, as well as the assumption that you'll be able to take out the spares in the first place. But especially with a medic still up, this doesn't sound that bad.

The Medic can only stabilize, not revive, and also we'll have a hard time dealing damage if they're the last up.

I would suggest prudence. We don't need to bring in a drone right away.

If the entire squad of operatives goes down, the mission is lost and everyone dies. Even if there aren't any aliens remaining. Fluff reason: The skyranger pilot is sealed off from the rest of the craft to protect them from aliens, and so are unable to apply medical care to injured personnel.
