Here's my take on the sniper rifle. Enlarged 2x.

I'm actually rather shocked to see that our most common class is Officer, at 3. Refresh-spam ho!

Too many chiefs, not enough Hoovy.
Too many orders. Not enough subordinates. :P

We have 1 Heavy. 1 Medic.
...We need more of them.

You were planning to have a 15 year old magical girl kill Witches by drinking them under the table!? It's original, at least.

Okay, well, I don't think you got the stat system very clear.
The stats listed for the class you take (in this case Medic) are your base stats. You get 4 points to add to those, no more than 2 to any one stat.
Also, the percentiles are your progression rates, which is the likelihood your stats will go up when you level up. Couple problems there.
First off, you spent 380% progression. So that's 50% too much.
Second, HP is the only stat that can have a 100% progression rate, so you can't have Speed that high. 70% is the cap for other stats.

Now I'm curious. We had an XCOM-Warhammer thingy, or just that one interest check?

EDIT: Oh yeah:
Here's my take on the sniper rifle. Enlarged 2x.

This definitely looks better than the current one, so I'll be using it for the next version.

In what situation would we need less dakka?

Might as well sign-up for this, and hope it'll involve less team killing than the actual games :v

Yeah, this is wrong, as BMM42 has said. Inventory is 5 slots, including your weapon, as stated previously.

As we gain access to better weapons, how will we gain a corresponding increase in weapon skill? Presumably I won't be able to use an alloy cannon right now even if we had one.

Quoting since I haven't gotten an answer yet.

Research and ranking up. Ranking up because more skilled character. Research so a squad wipe doesn't leave you with nothing but carbines in endgame.

How does ranking occur compared to leveling?  There appear to be two progression mechanics.

There is.

Ranking is per soldier. Rank is increased by being on successful missions and killing aliens. Each rank unlocks a perk the soldier can take. Every two additional ranks unlocks a proficiency level. New recruits start at 'Rookie' rank.

Levels are universal. They represent XCEF tactics improving to deal with the alien foe. They are the same as leveling in ordinary FEFs. New recruits will start at the same level as everyone else.

On thursday/friday I'll put out the XCEF Rookie's Handbook, which will explain all this stuff in one nice neat compendium.

Okay, that makes sense.  I'll save the nitpicky followup questions until after the book's out.
