Russia's not misunderstood.
Heh, so it actually is a mixture of equal parts USSR and Hitlerstalin?

Ukrainian sources begin to admit that they lost the airport.
It has been, what, 5 days? And they're only now starting to realize that "OMG, we really did lose the airport".

This lag reminds me of Ilovaisk. Again. Thankfully for Ukraine, it doesn't have 1000+ soldiers surrounded... yet.

It's called 'being in denial'.

Of course though, that doesn't rule out that they actually ARE realizing that by now.

It only took sending in even more Russian troops to do it too.  :)
You know that common people can buy these insignias, yes?

I'm pretty sure I've already seen these news a few days before.

That must be great for establishing plausible deniability.

Yeah, like the "polite people" of Crimea. It would make sense for a recent influx of Russian soldiers to explain the rebels' success over the last few days.

Or maybe the loss of the terminal only happened today

War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.

Why would they wear those, though? Especiall considering that there's a big need for establishing that there are in fact no Russian troops in Eastern Ukraine...

Or they were just Russian surplus that somehow found its way into rebel hands.

Why would a bunch of militias wear insignias of friendly-to-them military?

You know that Russia doesn't directly give out orders to them?

You know that Russia doesn't specify what the militia wears or their combat loadouts?
