Lot more escorts than 4. That list scrolls.

* LoSboccacc is feeling damn dumb

edit: game has some annoying cheap shots here and there. one battle started with one of my escort in the bottom middle with 5 debris ahead in each of the three bottom lanes, it obviously died. that's beyond hard, just cheap

It's cool, it took me a bit to realize it too.

Tip: If you hold off on leaving a battle you can rearrange your people. They normally start off in whatever configuration you left them in last.

Keeps crashing on me, first time a vehicle fires a weapon the game freezes.

This is a fun game, but the random event system just plain sucks donkey balls. It is too unforgiving in the sense of RNG taking away sweet things, but never giving anything, without allowing input from the player. Case in point - I bought a sweet vehicle with two weapon slots and two utility slots (!). I drive away from camp and bang, I get an event where the new vehicle is destroyed - not damaged, just directly gone - without any chance for me to intervene. If there had been at least a chance to sacrifice another vehicle instead or spend loads of fuel or something... but nope, just bang, gone. That is just plain bad game design straight out of 1980s.

... but I like complaining and then going on about how ye olde good games were so much better? Back in my days we played shitty games, never had a chance to contact the devs and we liked it! Then we drank cyanide laced with glass shards for dinner!

I think the game lacks the meat/machine duality, so of events cannot be 'skill based' or so like FTL

there you could lose a person, unless you'd got one of a set of specific components, or lose a component/get some damage unless you'd got a crew of a certain race or with a certain skill

so you can prepare yourself and feel good for preparing well or thinking, yeah next time I'd buy one of those things.

here you can't, it's just rngesus, even losing a %hp would suck if it's not part of a selection tree or something and that has the other problem of allowing people to just look up the correct response to dialog on internet

Well, for some FTL races and especially a particular event "meat/machine" is very vague :P

Got to the end boss today, and after a long fight which I almost managed to win (Mainly because I'd managed to pick up an utterly badass L3 hovercraft), had my MCV blasted to pieces by lasers. Loving the game so far, though.

Just a reminder, if you are playing this and aren't naming your MCV "Rubber Duck", you bring shame upon all of us.

I think on one run my MCV was named "Old Cow" or something, does that count?

I busted out FTL for nostalgic reasons last night, thought I would do a quick run. Fancy my luck finding this! Its not like I needed more than 4 hours sleep before work anyway. Thanks dev.

Wait, is this based on Steve Jackson's Car Wars? 'cos if it is I'm all over it.

This thing is hard.  I'm having a good enough time losing, but I'd like to figure out what the trick is to winning.

There seem to be an equal number of complaints on steam for "this is too hard, its impossible to win" and "this is too easy, a playthrough takes about 30 minutes" that I have to suspect that there are some fairly simple tactics to success if you can figure them out.

I have not found any guides yet.  Some events seem fixed, others seem to have randomized results.  Haven't quite figured out if you can ally with factions or not yet.

Yeah, I got close to winning yesterday. Got to the final boss, but wasn't quite strong enough to take it out. I think you have to make sure your vehicle stats are pumped up quite a bit before you try beating it.

I am guessing you must need to cruise around the neutral areas picking up as much salvage as possible before trying any quests.  The ones I've gone after have seriously creamed me with miniboss fights, so I guess I need to drive around and level up a bunch before hitting them.
