Well, RP-wise I'm sticking with my "Son of merchant who bought his way into nobility/tried to buy his way". Maybe we can flesh it out a bit more on IRC or something?

I can't use IRC on this comp, and my internet is not entirely functional atm.

I'm here for PM's tho, and Lucus could probably help you as well.

You can save it until we finish the house, if you like.

Or I could send you the materials, and let you go mining yourself. :P

Also, is there a reason we're starting with 0 status?  As far as I can tell (and how I did it the last time I used this system), the normal game has people starting with 2 in that as well.

I wanted status to cost a bit more to the player who wanted it, that's all. Also, I couldn't see how one of the players could, for example, start with 7 status and not already own the house themselves. It's my intention to play the Lord/Lady of our Noble House, at least until my tragic crossbow murder in the privy.

The choice is yours, of course, though I'd still advise having status start at 2 and just capping it at... five?  I suppose it's supposed to depend on the house's Influence, but still, capping it one or two points below the Lord's should work.  Otherwise it's an exp tax just to get above pariah and smallfolk level, and someone can still drop their status back down to 1 if they want.

Edit:  And yeah, I'm fine with helping people with their sheets if needed.

All right, I suppose a cap is as good as a lowered starting number...I'll change that, then.

Otherwise it's an exp tax just to get above pariah and smallfolk level, and someone can still drop their status back down to 1 if they want.

Yeah, I didn't exactly include this in the OP since I wanted to save it for assigning flaws and such, but the option is available.

Seemed sort of metagamey to me tho. All the blockheads will drop knowledge. :P

So I get more points since status start at 2? Also, what would a rich commoner's status be?

Probably 3 or 4, Sheb, depending on how wealthy we're talking.  Assuming Westerosi, of course.

Since it's his father that's the wealth and he serves as a squire, a three, I suppose?

Ah, yeah.

There's a chart on page 67 that gives more information about what status ranks mean.

Edit:  Speaking of, depending on how well we roll in house creation, I'm probably going to either take the Landed benefit or request that we buy a bannerman and allow me to take control of the banner house.

Both warrior and merchant are better spoken than the middle-aged noble/general.  Still a bit amusing.

You know, I find it amusing that we're skipping house creation, when in the rulebook that's the first thing done :P
