Dragon Ball Games- Budokai/Tenkaichi/Raging Blast/etc.
« on: November 04, 2014, 06:22:00 am »

So, I noticed there wasn't a thread for this, and having just gotten Raging Blast 2, I thought I would start it up.

So first off, what games have you played, and what were your favs?

I have both Raging Blasts now, as well as the horribad Ultimate Tenkaichi (just HAD to see hero mode for myself :P)

I currently like the first RB combat best, its more fluid then the second one, but seemingly everyone who plays only has the second, plus more characters, so I'm slowly relearning to fight.

Played the hell out of Budokai Tenkaichi on the PS2. Was a terror among my friends, no one could best my skills!

Oh yeah, that too. Not quite as good as LemmingballZ as I am Budokai.

I've owned every Budokai game (except 2), every Tenkaichi game, Burst Limit, Infinite World for a little while, Raging Blast 2, and Ultimate Tenkaichi. Right now I only have Burst Limit and UT, though, but I'm holding out for Xenoverse. I'm a pretty big DBZ junkie.

Any thoughts on whether or not the "Hero Mode" customization will become an actual thing?

From everything I've seen it sounds like they just planned it as a one-off thing, but I would love to see it put in a game that ISN'T terrible in every other way :P

Preferably a Raging Blast style one :3

A friend of mine had a Dragon Ball themed beat-em-up on a PC with 2-player capabilities. Must have been really old, as I was 12-14 at the time.

EDIT: Playable characters I remember: Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, Cell, maybe one of the Androids.

I don't recall a story mode, although it had a training mode where you could try the moves indefinitely.

Can anyone tell me what the name was? (Might have been emulated, but then would have been a pretty simple emulator as she was not very tech savvy)

Argh, no success.

I vividly recall this arena: http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Ball_Z:_Hyper_Dimension?file=Hyper_19.jpg but not the numbers.

Char select screen resembled Super Butoden 3. The main menu was red.

EDIT EDIT: Might have been http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Ball_Z:_Super_But%C5%8Dden_2, some screens tickle my memory.

Xenoverse is confirmed to have much better character creation than Ultimate Tenkaichi. You'll need the Xbox One/PS4 version for the full experience, though.

Should I just rename this "Fan Games are Just Better"?

Or maybe "Toriyama doesn't know how to give Dragon's REAL Balls?"? :P

EFFORT TO REVITALIZE DISCUSSION ACTIVATE!

So a friend of mine had me worried about Xenoverse because of the 3v3. He pointed to Battle of Z and more or less said "that's why Xenoverse is gonna suck"

I just got a chance to play a demo of said Battle of Z and it alleviated my fears somewhat.

While I certainly wouldn't say its a great system, the only real issues I had with it was somewhat lacking "flow" to the combat, but I'm alleviated by this because to be perfectly honest, I had the same problem when I first started playing Raging Blast, and now I'm super pro.

So, there's my two cents on that particular game I suppose :P
