The Mounish HereticsLord Stone combined his network of secrets with the whispers of the moneylenders and was soon enough able to track down the right people to serve as informers. Gold greased palms, much less than expected, and soon enough witnesses came forth before tribunals of inquisition. The heretics were cast out of the country, and the Archbishop of Suul has celebrated our devotion to the faith in his latest papal bull.

With the success of this crisis, the Foreign Ministry grows stronger. The Sleeping SicknessThe spies working for the Ministry of the Interior successfully track down the witch, but the scribe sent to deal with negotiations apparently rubbed her the wrong way. She raised her price, and when he could not meet it she flew into a rage and tried to kill him - his bodyguards protected him, but slew the witch in the process. Without a cure, the sleeping sickness has now begun to spread into the provinces. People are turning from the kingdom's scholars to look elsewhere for hope.

With the failure of this crisis, the Royal Library is weakened.EmbezzlementDespite the Chancellor's best efforts, his cunning chaplain was not cunning enough to determine which of the Treasury's agents were skimming off the top. Worse, rumour has spread about his failure and the royal vaults are considered a laughing stock. Several of the kingdom's creditors have called repayments on their loans.

With the failure of this crisis, the Treasury is weakened.Missing DiplomatsHouse Bradley's assassin proves his worth time and time again. Forming a three-man band with Laen Foch the Bard and a clergyman-turned-rogue, the trio bash skulls, grease palms and listen at doors until they find the man responsible for the deaths of the diplomats. Before the rival assassin's untimely demise, he coughed up the identity of his employer - a minor noble in the Grand Duchy of Vasir. Someone wants relations with Vasir to sour. Now that our diplomats can work without fear, however, we should be able to strengthen those relations accordingly.

The success of this crisis strengthens the Foreign Ministry.Crisis Worsens: Spy-aided HereticsLeft to their own devices the heretic infiltrators have only penetrated deeper. Word from the Ministry of the Interior suggests that they have begun infiltrating government and converting officials - perhaps even some of the Ministry's own spies.
This is now a Moderate Crisis.OctoberSeptember proved a mixed bag for the Crown's troubles. While the Foreign Ministry grows ever stronger, a powerhouse of diplomacy in this age, other parts of the kingdom's influence are seriously lacking. The crown is teetering on the edge of bankruptcy with barely more military to speak of than Sheepstead's own guards. Creditors are baying for blood, and the hypocrisy of the Archbishopric of Suul threatens to both reward and punish the nation. The young king looks exhausted by the promise of things to come and seeks your aid as per usual.
While he frowns on the failed efforts to help the Crown's troubles, he acknowledges the fine work of Mehlenna Blusterant and Harriet Bradley, promising both of them to grant whatever favour they may ask.
The Archbishop's Visit
In light of our recent success in our struggles against heresy, the Archbishop of Suul is planning a visit to Sheepstead to bestow his blessings upon the sick and needy here. It is well known that he is a keen scholar, and in addition to viewing the Gospel of St Corbett it is likely he will want to examine other texts at the library. An appropriate selection must be prepared - interesting, but not unorthodox or radical.

The Healthy Rich
The sleeping sickness continues to spread throughout the provinces, but news has reached Sheepstead of nobles and merchants miraculously recovering from the sickness. They attribute this to the Father of Suul, but Ministry spies suggest that someone is peddling a cure to the sickness in order to make a fortune from the disaster. We need to gently determine from the cured nobles who is selling the cure, then forcibly procure it for the good of the people.

Bank of Suul Demands Principal
Given the recent embarrassment with the Treasury last month, many creditors having been demanding repayment of their loans. The Treasury has done its best to cope, but the kingdom's single biggest creditor - the Bank of Suul - wants out. Despite the Archbishop's public commendation of Elbreth, the clergy of the Archbishopric feel that the moral laxity of the realm is responsible for the sleeping sickness befalling the country and will have no part sponsoring a country not favoured by the Father. Unless we can make a convincing argument for Elbreth's spirituality, the kingdom is going to go bankrupt!

Heretic Plots
The scattered heretics have formed their own cohesive network now and are operating in tandem. It seems they have some sort of dangerous plot in progress, but we cannot risk harming the faithful trying to stop it. Those in collusion with the heretics must be found out and eliminated before whatever they have planned can come to fruition.

Vasiri Merchant Houses Withdraw from Elbreth - A Stapler Required
As if the Bank of Suul demanding repayment of its principal was not bad enough, Elbreth's export industry is on the verge of collapse as well. The Merchant Houses of Valint and Balk, both operating out of the Duchy of Vasir, have declared that Elbreth is a bad investment and will be closing all their operations in Sheepstead.
The mainstay of Elbreth's economy is the export of wool. If we cannot export our principal resource, the entire economy will collapse and the kingdom will be plunged into poverty and destitution. Since we cannot convince the Merchant Houses to stay and we cannot lure in new shipping merchants with the current state of Elbreth's trade, the only solution is to set up our own merchants of the Staple (the wool market) and create a company to export Elbreth's wool on its own terms. This will require a massive investment, not just in gold but in the expertise to run such a business. On the other hand, it may also be the only way to prevent Elbreth's collapse as a regional power.
