Replacing dwarves in your fortress in vanilla
« on: November 01, 2014, 10:20:19 am »

I'm not actually sure if this is possible.

Are there CAN_LEARN beings that you can tame that will actually be able to do 'dwarf work' as part of your fortress? Or maybe their children could?

I also noticed that there can be child harpies, but they are an all female race. Can they actually produce more child harpies if you keep a group of them?

Can_Learn alone is insufficient to make a non-dwarf member of the fortress do dwarf work.  CAN_LEARN means the creature can gain skills through combat, conversation, and jobs (if they somehow can do any).  The oldest version was tame tigermen, but they didn't do work, but could learn conversation/social skills and become elected mayor.  Also I believe you can have a non-dwarf monarch join your fortress (see Cacame), and I don't think they can have labors enabled.  Not sure if possible through dwarf therapist or if other modding can make this possible.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

I believe there's a dfhack script to add entities to your civ.

for more details, the modding forum may have more expertise hanging around - they don't always come and visit our little niche here
