"Yes," he replies, "or I will be soon." You notice that the folk are all bandaging him up with green cloth. [76] It seems to be very succulent and lowers his blood loss significantly.

[47] after searching for a minute you find nothing but some change in his pockets. He does have a his device still on his wrist, completely undamaged in the fight. His knife is also lying on the ground here.

You take the knife, and crouching beside the device, jab the knife downward, [24] but the blow bounces off harmlessly.

You glance down at the ChronoMouse and are delighted to see that you have only 7 minutes remaining until you can dimension travel again. Judging from the fact it is morning, it will be easy to recharge once the cool down is finished. The folk have continued bandaging, paying no mind to you or Greg's teleport device.

You look at the device and are genuinely surprised at what it is. This device was one of the first ever made, before the scientists even made dimension travel possible, or even dreamed of time travel. It was their first attempt to get someone to travel anywhere at all, so short-ranged teleportation was the first choice. Why would he take one of the most basic device instead of the later ones? As you look it over, you see it has been slightly modified with extra wires on it and a small chip taped to the side. It looks like he did it in a hurry, from the sheer sloppiness of it all.

You take the knife and cut the wires off of the device, and the poorly attached chip follows. They fizzle slightly on the ground, then lie still. At last the beings part from their leader and he stands up, supported by one of the others. "Thank you for saving my life," he tells you, "I would like to repay you in anyway possible." Each of the other beings also gives you their gratitude.

Thank you for hosting me, but I will soon travel elsewhere. Would you kindly have anything that would be useful?

He thinks for a while. At last he says, "I see that you are being hunted by many. Though we can provide no weapons to protect you, we can supply you with aid against your wounds." He turns toward one of the beings, "Please fetch the man a nice stock of our bandages. He will need them on our journey." Complying, the being and others return in about 3 minutes with about 5 yards of the stuff. They set down at your feet. "Goodbye," says your friend, "and may you have a great and lasting journey."

"You are very much welcome," he says. My people can send a guide with you until our village is no longer in sight, if you wish so. Below you, Greg gives a soft grunt. "We shall deposit him in a safe place well outside our village before he wakes up," he adds.
